LOWER MIDDLE MARKET MOST ACTIVE BUYER TYPES IN 2023

Strategic buyers were the most active buyer in lower middle market ($2MM - $50MM) in 2023. Individual buyers made their mark in the lower middle market, at 36% of acquisitions (17% first time buyer, 19% serial entrepreneurs). Once again, private equity made about a quarter (23%) of the acquisitions in this market.
