Retaining Wall Construction

Crews are in the process of constructing a new retaining wall along the MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp to southbound SR-55.

Contractors have completed shoring installation and will continue to remove the existing wall and perform daytime structure excavation through May.

SCE Power Line Work Complete

After months of planning and inter-agency coordination, Southern California Edison (SCE) successfully completed their power line work last weekend, which required a full freeway closure between Edinger Avenue and Dyer Road. To minimize impacts to the traveling public, SCE crews were out in full force to install new power lines and remove old utility poles. This work was finished in one night where additional closures were no longer needed.

We appreciate the public’s patience to allow crews to complete the work safely and efficiently.

About the Project

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
