Dear Friends,

We will share communion this Sunday and look at a familiar passage from the Gospel of John.

The author of John reports that Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment at the last supper: …”that you love one another as I have loved you.”

We aren’t always comfortable with religious commandments in our tradition, but I hope we are open to this one!

In this passage, Jesus calls his disciples “friends,” which changes everything. When we receive a command from a parent or a boss, that’s one thing. How do we feel when a friend asks or tells us to do something?

I look forward to exploring these ideas with you on Sunday!

Pete

GREEN TIP

HINGHAM NET ZERO

                                      HNZ is a local group with the following mission:

                                   1. raise awareness of the need for aggressive climate action;

                                   2. support the Town’s efforts to cut emissions; and

                                   3. work to reduce carbon emissions across our town as quickly

as possible.

Hingham has a Climate Action Commission which is charged with implementing the Hingham Climate Action Plan, the town’s roadmap for reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2040. In the near future HNZ will be reaching out to Hingham residents with a survey asking us about its efforts to de-carbonize our homes and offering cost-free coaching to help the process along.

If you are not already on the HNZ mailing list, would like to be, and/or would like to know more about what they doing, log onto their website (link below).
