NOTES
ECLIPSE DAY
Remember that pick up today is at 1:30 at school with no afterschool or extended day programs. We hope everyone has the chance to fully and safely experience today's unique, cosmic event. Thank you to Caroline and the faculty eclipse committee for the energy and flexibility they put into making today be a special learning experience, while adjusting to the needs of the community and the suggestions from the state. We encourage you to collect and return all eclipse glasses to Riverside so that we can recycle and pass them on to future eclipse locations through Astronomers Without Borders.
3-5 VCAP TESTING
3-5th grade students are taking standardized tests in ELA and mathematics each morning this week, from about 8:30-10:00. They are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring snacks and a water bottle with them to their test sessions. Getting a good night’s sleep and having a healthy breakfast will help prepare their bodies and minds for this assessment.

Students can have all the time they need to complete the test sessions, and we hope to finish them this week. For those who were absent or need additional time, we will find it next week. All tests must be completed before April 19, the state-issued deadline.
ENROLLMENT CONTRACTS
Contracts for current students to re-enroll are due today. With a number of community-connected and well qualified applicants, including a wait list, it's essential that we know if your family plans to be at Riverside next year. Please communicate directly with Krystal if your contract is not in today.
HELP THE SUPER RAFFLE!
The parent-led Super Raffle is one of our top-two fundraisers of the year, with a goal to raise $10,000. Those funds, in addition to what's been earned through other, wonderful parent-led events this year, will mean the parent community has reached its fundraising goal for this year. We need everyone's help!
  • Parents who have talents, business, or connections, please consider donating an item or service as a raffle prize. Some ideas: hand crafted items, gift certificates for professional services, baked goods, travel or homestay credits.
  • Parents who can prepare a tray of finger foods to be shared at the event. Some ideas: stuffed mushrooms, meat skewers, mini quiches, cheese biscuits, cookies or brownies.
  • Remember our wish that each Riverside family sell three tickets. Please return the stubs of sold tickets, or complete unsold tickets, by this Friday.
With any ideas, questions, or willingness to help, please email parent event coordinators Claudia Lechuga and Tonia Brown.
MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE
Student Council is hosting a Middle School Dance on Friday, April 12th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The dance is Spring themed. Middle schoolers are encouraged to wear spring colors. Refreshments will be available. If any Riverside bakers want to bring something, email Beatrice Garvin.
8th GRADE PRESENTATIONS
As one of many culminating efforts, 8th graders are challenged to present to the school on a topic about which they are passionate, and can apply their individual skills and passions to community improvement in that area. We encourage Riverside parents and mentors to attend these assembly presentations and to be a part of the supportive audience that celebrates their efforts.

CONGRATS FOR POETRY
8th grade Beatrice Garvin's poem, "It Starts with Us," is featured this week in VT Digger's Young Writer's Project column: "It is an irrefutable truth that the choices the aging members of today’s Congress and Supreme Court carry on making will have the greatest impact on our younger generations . . . In a call to action, this week’s featured poet, Beatrice Garvin of Peacham, prepares her peers for the fight they will soon have to take up as they come of age."
SWEETHEARTS AND HEROES
On Friday, April 12 6-8th graders will go by bus to LI from 9:00-10:30 to participate in a special presentation and workshop for area students by Sweethearts and Heroes, an organization focused on developing healthy, positive social connections and relationships while fostering a sense of community and emotional resilience. Parents are welcome to join us.

We will be having a campus evacuation drill on Monday, April 29 for all students PK-8th. If you have any questions about it, please email Roy.
SAVE THE DATE! Riverside Against Cancer Recess Relay
