Welcome to Summer Rowing!

The season has kicked off with fantastic weather and a boathouse full of enthusiastic rowers! It’s wonderful to

see the WRRA, collegiate and high school rowers back on our beautiful Cuyahoga River!

Good luck to the St Joseph Academy and St Ignatius High School crews as they travel to Cooper River in

Pennsauken, NJ for the SRAA National Championships Regatta!

Why can't you step into the bottom of the boat?

This picture says it all! Questions? Please ask your coach.

APPLAUSE! APPLAUSE!

The key to our success rests on dedicated volunteers like you! We

filled over 300 Learn to Row volunteer slots in April with 87 members

who gave over 512 hours of their time to show Cleveland our

beautiful perspective of the Cuyahoga River. WRRA also sponsored

their first ever Canalway Partners RiverSweep Cleanup site on May

4th. Over 35 members plus family and friends helped preserve our

section of the Cuyahoga River Corridor plus other sites throughout

the area. Thank you!

Let’s Show Corporate CLE How We Row!

Experienced Volunteers Still Needed!

WRRA is looking for experienced Rowing and Coxswain members to help at the Friday, August 9, 2024 Corporate Learn to Row event from 9:30am-11:30am. We still need 6 Rowers, 2 Coxswains and 2 Floats/Extra Rowers. WRRA defines an experienced rower as someone who has three years of rowing experience, is able to back a shell, and is strong enough to turn a shell by themselves from either Stroke or Bow seat. This is to ensure the safety of our novices. Coxes need to be able to safely steer the shell away from the dock and safely return to the dock. There will be a dockmaster to assist with this. 2024 Volunteer credit will be awarded to those who volunteer. Email, Leah at volunteer@westernreserverowing.com if you can lend a hand. Please provide your contact phone number, email address and position(s) you are interested in filling (e.g., rower, coxswain, float/extra rower, stroke, bow, port starboard). Volunteer slots will be filled first come first served. Thank you!

Coaches and Coxswains:

NEW THIS YEAR! Anyone that receives a paycheck from WRRA is required to turn in their timesheet by the

10th of the month following the month you are requesting payment for. Example: You must turn in your

timesheet by July 10th for any hours you worked in June to be compensated for your time. You will forfeit your

hours and not get paid if this isn’t done. Please submit your hours in a timely manner.

We are also starting direct deposit for those that are regularly (not occasional subs) paid by WRRA. Please

use this link to fill out the form and return to Heidi at the Boathouse. There is also a white mailbox outside

the WRRA office upstairs in the CRF conference room if you prefer to drop it off.

Are you planning on rowing in the PanAm Games? If so, please email Heidi at programdirector@westernreserverowing.com. Please send names of your crew, coxswain, and the boat you want to reserve.
