Clark to Be Honored With Ceremonial Street Designation

In March, Richmond City Council approved designating the street outside Eastminster Church (pictured above) in honor of Rev. Shady Clark. A sign will be placed at the corner of 1601 Littlepage Street and Mechanicsville Turnpike labelling it as “Rev. Shady Clark, Jr. Way”. Shady has served as pastor of Eastminster for more than 40 years and has been deeply involved in the Mosby Court community. Shady was also a public school teacher and then an administrator for the City of Richmond at the same time he served the church. A dedication ceremony will be Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at Eastminster Church. We are deeply grateful for Shady’s service and commitment to Christ’s church, our presbytery, Eastminster Church, and our community.

Congratulations to New Earth Care Congregations

Last week’s recognition of Earth Care Congregations omitted Ginter Park Church and Tuckahoe Church, both newly certified for 2024. We are glad to bring attention to their accomplishment.

Tuckahoe celebrates its designation with a special worship on April 28. They invite you to join for preaching by Rev. Colleen Earp, program director at Massanetta Springs.

Pastoral Updates From COM

At its meeting on April 11, the Commission on Ministry approved two new pastoral agreements:

  • Waddell Memorial Church and Rev. Gary Hatter as covenant pastor
  • River Road Church and Rev. Clay Macaulay as interim pastor

Holy Spirit, guide Gary and Clay and the Waddell and River Road congregations as they build new relationships in service to you.

COM also granted retired status to Rev. Dr. Brenda Halbrooks Walker, who previously served at Three Chopt Church. Brenda, we congratulate you on this milestone and pray you enjoy this new journey.
