LIMESTONE & BRICK RESTORATION UPDATE

Simpson Plastering has completed its work restoring all exterior limestone, repairing all leaks in the brick, and adding metal siding to the exterior of the upper gym. Excellent news: this work was completed under budget and under timeline!

WELCOME ENTRANCE UPDATE

Stephen Ward & Associates is working with civil, structural, and electrical engineers to design the blueprints for our new Welcome Entrance, which will include doors facing Airport Road that lead into our Main Office on the east side of our campus (near Door 1). This project has taken more time than anticipated as the small scale of the project has made it challenging to secure consulting engineers. As soon as blueprints are complete, we will request bids for the project from various contractors.

STAINED GLASS UPDATE

With the limestone and brick phase of the project completed, we are ready to begin the stained glass restoration phase. Following two bids received for the project, Trustees voted to proceed with Willet & Hauser out of Winona, Minnesota. The scope of work will include cleaning and recementing the exterior surface of the stained glass, followed by the installation of 1/4" float glass protective covering.

LANDSCAPING UPDATE

Additional exciting news is that Julie Stephens of Harbarger Landscape Design has completed the design drawings and landscape specifications for our entire campus - and they are beautiful! Expect to see additional drawings in lobby spaces soon, but until then, here is a sneak peek:

Bid packages have been shared with seven landscape companies. Bids will be received prior to the May Trustees meeting. Depending on cost, we anticipate landscape installation to take place in phases over the next few years. The priority will be the front of our campus that faces Airport Road. We hope to begin the initial phases this fall and significant installation once the Welcome Entrance is complete.

EXTRA: DOOR REPLACEMENTS

Brand new exterior metal doors have been ordered for the transept, the double doors under the sanctuary, the Aldersgate wing, and the Asbury wing. Some of the doors had to be special ordered, therefore it will be approximately two months before the doors will be installed.

EXTRA: HVAC UNITS

In December, we shared that multiple HVAC units were experiencing failure, creating an unanticipated expense. Thank you to those who made special donations to support this need! At present, two units have been completely replaced and the compressor in an additional unit has been replaced. Since then, two other units are presenting issues. To address these issues more proactively, the Trustees are working with WS Electrical and Air Conditioning to provide an assessment of all units, including mapping of units and zones and maintenance recommendations for all units. Additionally, WS will also provide quarterly preventative maintenance services for all units.
