CENTRAL GULF COAST
CONNECTION
|
|
We continue to enjoy building relationships across the CGC as we travel to your churches. Worshipping with your congregations has been the highlight of our year.
We are currently in the busy District Assembly season. May 14-16 will be here before you know it, and I want to share a few things about our upcoming assembly at Dothan First Church of the Nazarene.
- If you are a licensed minister or pastor on the CGC you are expected to be present at District Assembly.
- The focus of this year’s assembly is “Reach.” Bring your delegates. Invite your congregations. Make sure your leaders are present. This is going to be a great time of worship and sharing practical ways we can reach our communities for Christ.
- We have several new district-licensed candidates and seven new ordination candidates to celebrate at assembly. This is going to be an exciting celebration!
- We also have four pastors who are retiring at District Assembly. We want to honor them for their years of service to Jesus and the church.
District Assembly is going to be a great time together to worship, hear from some great speakers, and talk about the vision for the upcoming years. I can’t wait to be with you.
Churches in Transition
Please continue to be in prayer for our Mobile Parkview church as they continue their pastoral search with the help of the Lord.
Pastoral Changes
We welcome Rev. Tony and Melinda Whitehead to the CGC.
Rev. Whitehead is the new Lead Pastor at Ridgeville Church of the Nazarene.
The Lord has great days ahead for Ridgeville.

These grants are available to churches of all sizes that are seeking to be a blessing to their community. The guidelines to receive a grant are simple and include the following:
- The project will be used to build a bridge from the church to the community.
- The project will meet a specific need or challenge within your local community.
- The funds will not be used to make building improvements unless it is specifically for community use.

CUBA 2024 - Work and Witness Trip Report
|
|
The 2024 CGC Work & Witness Trip to Cuba is history but the joy and blessings the team received will be forever remembered in our hearts. It is evident the Church is alive and vibrant in Cuba. Under oppression, YES, but alive and working. Many thanks to all who prayed for us during the trip. God answered our prayers; it was amazing with no hiccups.
The work portion of our trip included prepping and painting several rooms and windows at the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Havana, light plumbing, and heavy concrete work for some of our guys! The building we worked on will hopefully house future Work & Witness teams when it is completed. We also completed a painting job and worked on the roof at the Juanelo parsonage. This was a great team that was willing to do whatever needed to be done since the permit for the original project did not come through in time. Thank you all for your great team spirit. Many thanks for the leadership of Rev. Freddy Williams and Rev. Bob Prescott for making this a memorable ministry trip.
Team members included: Rev. Freddy Williams, Rev. Robert (Bob) Prescott, Mrs. June Jarrell, Ronnie Jarrell, Brooke Bayne, Vanessa Barnett, Dan & Sonja Coleman, Rev. Bill Holley, Lou Woolbright, Stacy Sivley, Derek Cyrus, and Diane Thompson.

The team pictured here with a pastor and husband who were thrilled to receive our gifts. She had prayed for coffee! God answered her prayer; we took coffee to her!

Concrete work at the seminary.

Behind the team is the building where the work was done. The team sanded and painted windows and put a primer coat on the inside walls. They also poured concrete on some of the floors.
