PARENTS' SOFTBALL CLASSIC TOURNAMENT: Sunday, June 2, 2024
The Parents’ Softball Classic is a great local tradition in which parents play one another to raise funds for a great cause, the MBX Foundation supporting students and athletic programs. Parents are grouped according to the local schools attended by their children and play in a friendly tournament that culminates in a dazzling championship game.

The goal is to provide students with the opportunity to supplement and enrich their summer experience in a familiar and safe environment. Mira Costa GRAD Nite is an “all night” party, where our graduating class can enjoy one last evening of fun and food with friends in a safe, substance free environment. MCHS Dance Team presents: Mini Mustangs Dance Camp this August!
The Mira Costa Dance Team will host a two day Mini Mustang Camp where campers will learn dances with the dance team members, and will also have crafts, games, snacks. MIRA COSTA BOYS LACROSSE WINS CIF Southern Section CHAMPIONSHIP
The Mustangs win 10 in a row to claim Back to Back Bay League Titles, and run the gauntlet in the CIF Southern Section Playoffs to win our first ever CIFSS Championship in school history! The Defense came up huge with 2 big stops in the final 2 minutes, led by goalies Zak Lachance and Michael Butler who both played outstanding. Junior Dash Seiffer had a big take away with under 2 mins to go, and Sophomores Christian Hackley, Brody Miller, and Seniors Jack David & Sean Patton locked it down. Senior Rafferty Waterson capped off an incredible high school career with a goal and 3 assists, Junior Nick Marsh had 2 G, 2A including the eventual Game winning goal. Junior Dylan Fenton had 3 Goals himself along with tremendous work on the faceoff wings and defensive side of the ball along with Junior Gavin Fix. Roc Dillman had 2 Goals, along with Jacob Yakatan and Dylan Trout each tallying a goal. Summer Baseball Camp - Various Dates
Mira Costa Baseball will be offering two Summer Camp options this year over 3 different weeks including June 24, July 15 and July 29 weeks. A Half Day Baseball Camp with Skills Training offered by the Costa Baseball Coaches and Players and a Half Day Camp with an Extended Day/Speciality Positions camp option. All sessions include T-Shirt/Hat, Snacks and Fresh Brothers Kids Meal. Half Day is 9am-1230pm and Extended Day is 9am-130pm

SWIM
Congratulations to the Costa Swim Team who had a phenomenal season. The undefeated team did a three-peat for Bay League Championships, sweeping all four divisions. At CIF SS D1 Championships, the girls’ division placed 2nd with juniors Delaney Herr winning gold for 100 Back and Bella Brito winning gold for 100 breast. Other notable swims at CIF include Bella Brito who won silver for 200 IM, as well as the Girls 200 Medley Relay team (Delaney Herr, Bella Brito, Andi Taylor, Shea Steggell) and the Girls 400 Free Relay team (Delaney Herr, Heather O’Brien, Shea Steggell, Bella Brito) who both won silver.

TENNIS - BOYS
Hats off to our JV Boys Tennis team for an undefeated 21-0 season!!! The JV Bay League Singles championship was Costa vs. Costa, with Liam Fielding emerging the winner and Brodie Kelley the finalist. Congrats also to our JV Bay League Doubles Champions Anthony Sheu and Christopher Nahlinder! Thank you to Coach Mark McGuire who coached our JV to an incredible season.
Our Varsity ended the season with a winning record and 3rd Place finish in Bay League. Congratulations to Aidan Tacinelli, Ryan Beaupain, and Tyler Smildzens for representing Costa in Bay League Singles, and our Bay League doubles teams Ethan Dover/Edmund Lu, Dylan Hughes/Cameron Hughes, and Finn Gregory/Mason Shepley. We also had 3 players invited to represent Costa in a prestigious tournament in Ojai - Ethan Dover, Edmund Lu and Tyler Smildzens. Thank you Coach Allen Yap for an amazing season!

BEACH VOLLEYBALL - GIRLS
GIRLS BEACH VOLLEYBALL WINS ITS SECOND CONSECUTIVE D1 CIF CHAMPIONSHIP
The Girls Beach Volleyball team won its second Division 1 CIF Championship on April 27th, making them back-to-back CIF Champions! This is only the second year that CIF has held championships for girls beach volleyball and Mira Costa has won both championships! Costa beat Huntington Beach in the semifinals and Redondo Union in the finals. Congratulations also to Savanna Lau and Giselle Lau for earning 2nd place in the CIF Pairs Championship and to Taylor Deckert and Olga Nikolaeva for advancing to the semi-finals.

We are excited for the second season of Girls Flag Football! The new season brings new direction, including fielding both a Varsity and a JV team. THANK YOU to the entire Costa community for supporting our Spring Musical, Footloose. We saw the largest audiences a costa musical has ever had and it means the world to us! AND a big congratulations on our 19 JRAY award nominations! The JRAY awards is a competition for all Southern California high school musical theatre performances. We’ll be attending and performing at the awards show on Monday May 27th!

BAND & COLORGUARD
Join MCHS Marching Band & Colorguard for the 24/25 Season!
We have started our spring training for the MCHS Marching Band & Colorguard, allowing students to come ‘try out’ this fall sport and see if it is a good fit for them. Join us at our parent meeting (students also welcome) on Tuesday, May 28th @ 6 pm in the MCHS Small Theater to get even more information. Everyone is welcome; no prior experience is necessary. We have room for musicians and performers on our team. We are a fall sport that starts in August with some ‘practice’ sessions over the summer. We compete against local Southern California high schools with our field show in the Western Band Association circuit and also support our football team at all home games. Our program carries on amazing traditions for our high school and represents Mira Costa at events throughout our community. This is a great way to earn PE credit for 1st semester, it is a no-cut sport for anyone willing to put in the effort, and everyone participates at each performance. RUGBY - BOYS and GIRLS
SCIRF ALL-LEAGUE SELECTIONS
The following Mira Costa Rugby players were named all-league players by the Southern California Interscholastic Rugby Federation (SCIRF), receiving recognition and a badge denoting their selection as 1st Team, all-league players for the 2023-24 winter season: from the Girls’ Rugby team, Allie Lindblad, Veve Rice and Dora Tuitupou, and from the Boys’ Rugby team, Charley McCarthy, Luke Meeker and Pablo Pascual. The following Mira Costa Rugby players also were selected by SCIRF as all-league players for the 2nd Team: from the Girls’ Rugby team, Georgia Fluker, Grace Millea and Savannah Swartzlander, and from the Boys’ Rugby team, Parker Conley, Cash LaHive, Liam Meeker and Kai Succari. Congratulations to these outstanding players, all of whom brought skill and leadership to the pitch all season! We could not be more proud of them and all of their accomplishments on and off the pitch!
Both the Girls’ and Boys’ Rugby teams finished strong and had an amazing 2023-24 winter season this year, with both teams placing 2nd in their respective SCIRF divisions. In addition to local games during the winter season, the Mira Costa Rugby program participates in international tournaments, having previously traveled to and played in Wales, Spain and Italy, with current plans to travel to New Zealand in April 2025.

HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER RUGBY PROGRAM (Co-Ed)
Rising 9th-grade boy and girl Rugby players are invited to register for our MBX Summer Athletics Rugby Program. Returning players in 10-12 grades are also expected to register. Click here to register.
The program runs from Monday, June 17 – Thursday, July 18. Practices are held at Mira Costa High School three (3) days a week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-6 pm (no practice July 4th). In addition to daily practices, the summer program may include weekday or weekend scrimmages with other schools. The coaches will communicate with players in advance. If your player is signed up for another fall sport through MBX, such as football, players typically join the Rugby practice after the other practice ends.

SOCCER - BOYS
Incoming Freshmen (current 8th graders): Are you interested in training with Mira Costa Boys Soccer in the fall, in hopes of making the team in the winter? Our boys summer soccer camp runs June 17 to July 18, Monday through Thursday from 2:30-4:30pm. Sign up here: New Student MBX Summer School. The camp will determine which players make the Fall pre-season soccer PE training program. (All players who are not participating in another fall sport are required to be in fall pre-season training.)
Thank you to all the parents who played in our annual Goodrich Tournament to raise money for school athletics and Costa Soccer Programs. Grandview parents took home the trophy this year, under Captains Chris Talbott, Sean Guass, and Jonas Hudson. Save the Date for next year’s tournament: May 10, 2025!

Jump Start Accelerated Math Summer 2024
Designed to help middle and high school students who are enrolled in an accelerated or honors course for the school year of 24-25 so that they may get a jump start during summer.
