“This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.”

Luke 22:19

May 20, 2024

From the Desk of Mr. Marty Van Hulle, Principal

SAL Parents:

Zero. That is the number of issues we had with students following a power outage this morning, a trip to AmFam Field last Wednesday for Brewer Math Day, and a trip to the zoo for our youngest students last Friday. It’s so great to know that we can count on our kids to rise to the occasion and represent themselves and the school in such a positive manner no matter the circumstances or the environment. This is a testament to who they are as individuals and to the staff who works with them on a daily basis.

And speaking of staff, we want to extend our best wishes to 5K aide, Deb Jelich, who has decided to retire after a long and productive career as an educator. Deb has been with us at SAL since 2020 and has had a tremendous impact on dozens of students during her time with us. We are fortunate to have already filled Deb’s position for next year. Karen Leonardi, wife of SAL math teacher, John, will be with us 2 days a week, while long-time first grade teacher, Michaela Bies, will join us for the other three days. Both Karen and Michaela bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the position. Coupled with the hiring of Mr. Jim Birch in 5th grade, we are currently fully staffed for the 2024-25 school year.

We have a busy 2 weeks ahead as we close out the school year. Highlights include Wednesday’s concert, Friday’s High Interest Day, and of course, 8th grade graduation, and the final days of school next week.

Have a great week ahead!

Take care and God Bless!

M. Van Hulle

Principal, SAL

High Interest Day - Helpful Information!

On Friday, May 24th, our school will be participating in a High Interest Day. This day is set aside to provide an opportunity for all students to explore different careers, hobbies and activities in a hands-on environment (such as dance, fencing, baking, gymnastics, karate, STEM, and careers such as medical, engineering, firefighting, and more).

It is going to be such an amazing event. Children should wear comfy clothes and tennis shoes, bring a bag lunch and beach towel to sit on during the picnic lunch and come ready to have fun. They will also have the opportunity to purchase lemonade (50 cents a cup) to support our Alex's Lemonade stand. All of the money raised will go towards the fight against childhood cancer.

 1. We are still in need of help for High Interest Day scheduled for next Friday. The planning committee has been working super hard to put together an amazing experience for your kiddos, but can't do this without more parent volunteers. Please remember that each family is asked to volunteer 40 hours each year and this is a great way to get a lot of those hours - plus the kids love seeing their parents helping out!! Thanks so much!! Sign up

2. St. Anthony on the Lake is teaming up with Northwestern Mutual as proud supporters of the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for the second year in a row. The mission of the foundation is to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer and research and empower others, especially children, to get involved and make a difference for kids with cancer. This will be our second year raising money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in honor of Kyler Hogan. Kyler is courageously battling leukemia. Our goal is to raise $200 for this foundation!! St. Anthony's will be hosting their first lemonade stand at High Interest Day on May 24th. All proceeds made from our lemonade stand will go directly to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to help fight childhood cancer. SAL is committed to Alex’s vision to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer St. Anthony's Page. Each cup of lemonade will cost 50 cents and each child can purchase 2 cups.

Please reach out to Elizabeth Kurowski or Marlo Dentice-Johnson if you have any questions. Thanks so much!!

Greeters at Sunday Mass

Would your family like to greeters on Sunday Mornings at Church? Greeters play an important part in welcoming parishioners and visitors to Mass each week. Greeters have several important duties before Mass begins. They welcome people into the building, show them where to hang coats, where to find the restrooms and where the childcare room is.

How does your family become Greeters? You will need to contact the Music and Liturgy Office and have your family’s name added to the Greeters Participation Group of MySAL. Once your name is in the Participation Group you can go in at anytime and sign up for the date and Mass time you wish.

If you have any questions, contact Vincent LaTona in the Prayer and Worship Office at 262 691-1173 ex. 1109 or by email at latonav@stanthony.cc.
