Dear Miramonte Community,
This morning, we had our 3rd Quarter safety drill where we reviewed and practiced our “Shelter-In-Place” procedures. The drill went great and during our staff debrief, we all agreed that students and staff followed the processes perfectly. We will continue to remind our school community of our safety procedures and drill them regularly. Additionally, I will always keep you directly informed so that you can talk to your children and reach out if you have questions. During today’s drill you should have received three messages from me with updates … if you did not, please contact Danielle Warford in my office to help troubleshoot the issues.
Our annual Course Registration process for next school year begins now! You should have received your child’s unique Math Recommendation yesterday via email. If you did not receive that, or you have questions or concerns about it, please reach out to your child’s current Math teacher. Next week, counselors are holding grade-level presentations to help students review their available course options and begin the process of registering for courses. Please take time this weekend to review the Miramonte Course Catalog to better understand the courses available to students next school year.
Open House is on Thursday, January 30. Please save the date and join us for a great evening celebrating the year and planning ahead for next year. Next week, we will share all of the available informational sessions that parents and students can attend during Open House, including the Senior Parent meeting that runs from 7:30-8:00 p.m. in the Library.
MLK Weekend is here so enjoy the extra day and please take a moment with your child to honor Dr. King and his life and legacy. One of his quotes inspires me every day: “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.”
Go Mats!

Happy Friday Miramonte Families,
Have you noticed the new banners at the front of the school? They’re simple but lovely! These small campus improvements make a difference and we couldn’t have done it without your generous donations to ONE-Miramonte. A special thank you to Jill Hughes for her dedication and work in bringing this project to life—your efforts truly brighten our campus!
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Christopher Severson for his dedicated leadership and service on the AUHSD Board since 2018. His commitment to our students, staff, and community has made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful for all he has done to support our schools!
On another exciting note, we’ve got some incredible students heading into the Public Speaking Invitational Debates this weekend. This is yet another program funded in part by your ONE-Miramonte donations. Let’s wish them all the luck as they take the stage to share their voices and ideas. We’re so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see them represent our school! GO MATS!
Stay up to date with all Parents' Club activities by visiting our website. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Christina Linezo

Staffing Changes
First and foremost, we are happy to report that Ms. Zielinski welcomed a healthy baby into the world at the beginning of the month. She and baby are both doing well and we are so thrilled for her and her growing family. Helping out in her absence is Ms. Nora Himmel, and she is with us on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. She is available 5 days a week via email and students and parents should reach out to her as the first point of contact. If a student has a question on a Tuesday or Friday they are more than welcome to drop into counseling and speak with Ms. Conners or Ms. Shawn! Please join us in welcoming Ms. Himmel to Miramonte!
Schedule Changes
-
The deadline to request to add a class is Tuesday, January 21.
-
The deadline to drop a class without it appearing on the transcript is Friday, March 14.
Students who received a D or F in a graduation required course should email their counselor to see if they are eligible for remediation through a FuelEd course. Ninth graders are not eligible for FuelEd.
Seniors
- Mid-Year Transcripts: As long as your student has ordered an initial transcript, their counselor will send their mid-year report and they do not need to order it through the webstore. If your student has not ordered an initial transcript, they will need to so before any transcripts can be sent.
Course Selection
Registration for next year's classes will begin in a few weeks. Students will be tagged in TeachMore and will be meeting by grade level during Academy sessions. We ask that students and families who have questions about courses for next year email their counselor. Unfortunately due to the high volume of questions we get, we are unable to have in-office meetings for every student to go over course selections. However, it is our experience that most questions can be answered via email. Of course, if a question cannot be answered via email, we will schedule a meeting.
Counselors will be available for students to ask specific registration questions during lunch in front of the counseling office Tuesday, January 21 - Wednesday, February 5. Counselors will also be holding a Q&A session at Open House on Thursday, January 30.
Students will be getting math course recommendations from their current math teacher and pre-enrolled in the class they have been recommended for. If a student wishes to take a math class they were not recommended for, they need to speak directly with their math teacher.
11th graders: Registration begins on Wednesday, January 22. Classes are due in the computer Monday, February 3.
10th graders: Registration begins on Friday, January 24. Classes are due in the computer by Tuesday, February 4.
9th graders: Registration begins on Wednesday, January 29. Classes are due in the computer by Thursday, February 6.
All students will be given a registration form to complete and return (with a parent signature) to their English teacher. Forms will be collected by counselors in English classes on the following days:
11th graders: Monday, February 3
10th graders: Tuesday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 5
9th graders: Thursday, February 6 and Friday, February 7
Students who miss their registration presentation will be required to attend the make-up session during Academy.
Follow us! Parents and students can follow the new Miramonte Counseling Instagram account for information, news, and advice from the counseling department.
