As NP and North Carolina state senator Gale Adcock wrote in a recent issue of The Journal for Nurse Practitioners, “I’ve never seen a single individual, no matter their reputation or influence, pull off a legislative win alone. Loretta Ford participated in a special NP Week Veteran’s Day ceremony in Washington, D.C. in 2023.

Dr. Loretta Ford, the co-founder of the NP role, passed away on January 22 at the age of 104. Dr. Ford was a health care pioneer and inspiration to NPs everywhere. We extend our sympathies to Dr. Ford’s family, friends and colleagues.
