Spring at Tarleton State is filled will many levels of FFA CDE (Career Development Events), inviting a record-breaking number of participants to campus and the local community. Events of this scale would not be possible without the coordinators and student volunteers who assist with the planning and hosting, as well as the sponsors who provide support for these activities. Nuffield International Farming Scholars Tour Texas Agriculture

Tarleton State’s College of Agriculture & Natural Resources had the privilege of hosting The Nuffield International Farming Scholars on a tour across Texas, March 23-30th. Dedicated to improving agriculture by educating future leaders, The Nuffield International Farming Scholars achieve this by sending scholars to other countries to learn new farming methods, which they then share with fellow agriculturalists.

Texan Therapeutic Riding, Formerly TREAT Riding, Successfully Rebrands

Texan Therapeutic Riding (TTR), formerly TREAT Riding, is an equine-assisted therapeutic riding program that harnesses the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding. “As the program continues to grow, we feel that changing our name to Texan Therapeutic Riding encompasses everything we do,” said program coordinator Shelby Huxen.

Tarleton State, AQHA Visit Mexico City

During their time in Mexico City, they had the privilege of collaborating with the affiliate association Asociación Mexicana Cuarto de Milla (AMCM or the Mexican Quarter Horse Association), where they delivered a series of insightful lectures covering various aspects of equine care and management. Topics discussed included Race Training for Young Horses, Conformation, Fundamentals of Equine Nutrition, Current Advancements in Equine Reproduction, Drug Testing Procedures, and Prohibited Substances.

School-based Agricultural Education Teachers’ Integrate VR Into Their Classroom

Agricultural Education uses a combination of classroom and laboratory instruction, experiential learning, and leadership education to prepare students for jobs in industry. With the recent promotion of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) as an option for educational programs, this technology allows teachers to incorporate experiential learning and give students real experiences who otherwise might not have the opportunity.
