The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

- Luke 2:20-

“ Find my Jesus”

The celebration of our Lord’s birth brings families home. Thursday night, my daughter flew home from college. Monday night, my other daughter and son-in-law came home, as well, and I couldn’t wait. Gone are the days of wondering where my kids are, and when they would be home. Why? An app called “Find My iPhone.” It’s nothing new, I’ve been using it for years. With this app, I can instantly locate my phone and my Airpods when I lose them, which is more often than I like to admit. I can also locate something else, my children. It doesn’t matter their age or their location, I can see where their phone is. As all parents know, where their phone is, there they will be.

So Monday as the young married couple left Scottsdale in their baby blue Honda, I could see exactly where they were traveling North on Interstate 17. When they left the city, I knew it. When they approached Moab, I could see that too. When they were only 30 minutes away, I was excited, and when they arrived in Eagle, I was relieved. Remarkably, when the app said they arrived, they did. It is so comforting knowing when they would be home.

I don’t think those shepherds in the fields that chilly starry night had iPhones, but they didn’t need them. They had something much greater! Angels appeared through the darkness and proclaimed,

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” - Luke 2:10-12

The shepherds left the grass of the fields for the dirty roads of Bethlehem. Upon arriving they found baby Jesus, the Savior of the world, just as they had been told. The angels told the shepherds what they would see, and they did.

Maybe you have been searching for Jesus your whole life. Sure you went to church growing up, you sang hymns, but deep in your soul, you have longed to find him, but you don’t need to find Jesus because Jesus already came for you! That’s why Christmas is so very special.

See you Sunday, Christmas Eve, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus! I can’t wait to see you and your families!

In Christ’s Love,

Pastor Austin

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Prayers

LORD JESUS, HEAL OUR LAND, OUR BODIES, AND OUR HEARTS.

Please pray for. . .

  • The Advent Season Prayer for Love. Heavenly Father, as we enter this fourth week of Advent, remind us that the whole meaning of Christmas can be explained by one word--LOVE--. You sent Love down from heaven as a little baby. Love lay in a manger full of scratchy hay in a shabby stable. Love brought people from afar to gather and worship. Help us to reflect this week on the magnitude of Your incredible Love that was Jesus in the flesh. His Love endures forever.

  • Growing Grace Fellowship New Building Campaign. We give praise for the progress we are making toward our goal! God is providing through all of you! Please continue to pray about how your family can contribute to building our new church home to further HIS kingdom!

  • Carol Proffitt, who has been sick and is still homebound, and for those who are caring for her. Pray for continued care and provision during this difficult time.

  • everyone in our congregation and their families who are dealing with the pains and trials of cancer and other illnesses including Todd Purse; Connie Kerr; Keith; Chris; Sharon Hlavinka; Rance Ketterling; Darlee, Amanda; Jerry Wiisanen; Rosemarie; April; Suzanne, Mary's sister-in-law; Bonnie Lamotta; Mark Von Soosten, Aaron, Ryan, John Kirchner, Oliver, Debra Ketterling and family, Rita Rodriguez, Julie (Larry Arguello's sister).
