The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

“ Find my Jesus”
The celebration of our Lord’s birth brings families home. Thursday night, my daughter flew home from college. Monday night, my other daughter and son-in-law came home, as well, and I couldn’t wait. Gone are the days of wondering where my kids are, and when they would be home. Why? An app called “Find My iPhone.” It’s nothing new, I’ve been using it for years. With this app, I can instantly locate my phone and my Airpods when I lose them, which is more often than I like to admit. I can also locate something else, my children. It doesn’t matter their age or their location, I can see where their phone is. As all parents know, where their phone is, there they will be.
So Monday as the young married couple left Scottsdale in their baby blue Honda, I could see exactly where they were traveling North on Interstate 17. When they left the city, I knew it. When they approached Moab, I could see that too. When they were only 30 minutes away, I was excited, and when they arrived in Eagle, I was relieved. Remarkably, when the app said they arrived, they did. It is so comforting knowing when they would be home.
I don’t think those shepherds in the fields that chilly starry night had iPhones, but they didn’t need them. They had something much greater! Angels appeared through the darkness and proclaimed,
“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” - Luke 2:10-12
The shepherds left the grass of the fields for the dirty roads of Bethlehem. Upon arriving they found baby Jesus, the Savior of the world, just as they had been told. The angels told the shepherds what they would see, and they did.
Maybe you have been searching for Jesus your whole life. Sure you went to church growing up, you sang hymns, but deep in your soul, you have longed to find him, but you don’t need to find Jesus because Jesus already came for you! That’s why Christmas is so very special.
See you Sunday, Christmas Eve, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus! I can’t wait to see you and your families!
In Christ’s Love,
Pastor Austin
