SaskCulture launches new fund to support access to grants |
The new Accessibility Fund will provide support to organizations led by individuals who experience barriers and would benefit from support in applying for grant programs.
The Accessibility Fund can cover the direct costs of hiring someone to help with creating an account, completing and submitting an application, or follow-up report on the online grant platform. It is available on an ongoing basis for all grant programs operated by SaskCulture. Read more

Join SaskCulture Board: Participate in cultural leadership | |
SaskCulture is seeking talented, dynamic, conscientious and energetic individuals interested in volunteering to assist in the cultural development of Saskatchewan.
The positions open for election at the 2025 Annual General Meeting include demonstrated knowledge of cultural industries, heritage, Métis ancestry and a demonstrated knowledge of Métis culture, and Membership at Large.

New changes to MIF-Project Funding | |
The Multicultural Initiatives Fund (MIF) – Project now offers two funding levels. Starting with the upcoming funding round, applicants can apply for either the Small Projects category (up to $5,000) or the Major Projects category (up to $15,000). Each category has separate streams, with the Small Projects focusing on Cultural Continuity and Celebration of Diversity streams, and the Major Projects, on Anti-Racism, Intercultural Connections and Truth and Reconciliation.
MIF-P aims to support cultural projects that advance ethnocultural, multicultural, First Nations, Métis, intercultural or cross-cultural activities in Saskatchewan. The grant opens next week. Stay tuned for updates on our website and social media. Read more

Employment in the arts improves after 2021 low point | In a recent summary of a Statistics Canada study, the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance highlights that in 2021, employment in the performing arts industries dropped to 57% of pre-pandemic levels. Although there has been improvement, employment in 2023 remains at 80% of pre-pandemic levels. The study also points to gender disparities, with non-profits having a higher proportion of female employees, a trend that continues to grow, while for-profit sectors show the opposite. Read more | Saskatoon a growing hub for artists in the province | Saskatoon represents an increasing proportion of artists in Saskatchewan. A recent Hill Strategies analysis found a 35% increase in artists in the Saskatoon Census Metropolitan Area between 1991 and 2021, higher than the provincial increase of 8%. While this increase is lower than the City's overall labour force (49%) and national artist growth (75%), Saskatoon has consistently seen a rise in artists since 2001, while the province has experienced only moderate changes. Podcast builds awareness around disability culture

Wanting to create a sense of belonging and community that transcends barriers, Natasha Urkow and Maria Doyle launched the successful Mixed Crips podcast, now in its second season.
According to the founders, the podcast’s mission is to show people living with disabilities that there are others like them out there —brought together by disability culture. In each episode, artists Urkow and Doyle discuss their experiences with art, relationships, employment and more, through the lens of disability, often bringing in guests from Saskatchewan and beyond to the conversations.
