Rabbi's Blog:

As of the time of my writing this, seven hostages have been released: I hope and pray they are just the beginning. Many more hostages are still being held. Not long after their release, photos made their way around the internet of them reuniting with their mothers. The joy and relief on everyone’s face was obvious. Also obvious was why that moment means so much. Every moment the hostages are in captivity isn’t just about painful separation, it is also a worry that they will never return home. We fear and dread that a significant number of hostages have already died while in captivity. But when those three returned, it was a good moment.

President's Blog:

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year, spent with your loved ones. As we kick off 2025, I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you of another “kick-off” here at our very own TKC. The Board of Trustees invites you to a Special Congregational Meeting to be held on Sunday, March 2nd at 11:00 am in the TKC Sanctuary and on Zoom. We will be kicking off a capital fundraising campaign for some much needed maintenance and improvements to our building, including a new roof, resurfacing of parking lots, painting, and a social hall refresh.

News From the Mitzner Family Religious School

Second semester has begun! We are excited to have our students back in the building and to celebrate all of our spring holidays.

First up is Tu B'shevat which will be themed around Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. We will be doing recycle projects, helping to reuse food with Bagel Rescue, and learning to reduce energy usage.

Next we'll celebrate Purim with our brand new immersive Purim experience that will allow attendees to step into King Ahasuerus' castle and learn how Esther saved the Jews.

Finally, at the end of March, we will dive into an experiential Seder Plate event all students.

Throughout the semester, our grades will all participate in Friday night and Saturday morning services to help lead us in prayer. We invite the congregation to come to these services and see our next generation in action!

  • Friday, February 7 - 5th and 6th grade Family Shabbat
  • Friday, March 14 - 4th grade Family Shabbat
  • Saturday, March 29 - 5th, 6th, and 7th grade Saturday morning learning service

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT:

Zaban Paradies Center

Did you know Temple Kehillat Chaim has provided one meal a month to the Zaban Paradies Center for homeless couples for more than 2 decades? In 2024, 52 couples have gone from complete homelessness to self-sufficiency. On the 4th Sunday of the month our Kehillah provides the evening meal for the shelter’s residents and staff. Thank you to the Naman, Kahn, Hirsch, Steiglitz and Persky families for providing meals these last few months. If you would like more information or would like to provide a partial or complete meal for about 30 people please contact Carole Liebman our Zaban Paradies Center Meal Coordinator at caliebman5603@gmail.com or 770-355-5603.

Chavurah Bunco Night

On January 4th the Empty Nester Chavurah held a Bunco Night and invited all Kehillah adults to attend. The event was held in our Social Hall and the 20 attendees laughed, ate, drank and had a great time getting together. It was a fun way to connect with one another at our Kehillah. Melissa Schein was a first time player and our big winner of the evening. Way to roll ‘em Melissa!!! Thanks to Carole Liebman and Erica Goodwin for such a fun night of Bunco. The evening was such a success that we hope to plan another Bunco Night later in the year. You wont want to miss out on all the fun! Participating in a Chavurah is a great way to stay connected and enjoy camaraderie in our community.

Thank you to Eagle Scout Ian Hirsch!

Ian's Eagle Scout project was a new outdoor classroom for our Religious School! We are so excited to use this great space when the weather allows. We dedicated the classroom in December so that our students could celebrate this incredible achievement. Thank you Ian for this wonderful addition to our school.
