Happy Spring Break

As we gear up for a well-deserved spring break, I wanted to take a moment to share some tips on how to keep the academic momentum going during this time off. While we all look forward to relaxation and fun, it's important to ensure our children maintain their skills in reading and math, so they return refreshed and ready to excel.

Reading Adventures:

  1. Visit the Library: Encourage your child to pick out a few books that interest them. Whether it's fiction, non-fiction, or graphic novels, let them explore their interests and spark their imagination.
  2. Read Together: Spend some quality time each day reading with your child. Whether it's a bedtime story or a cozy afternoon read, sharing the joy of reading strengthens their skills and creates lasting memories.

Mathematical Adventures:

  1. Math Games: Turn everyday activities into math games! Whether it's counting steps on a nature walk, measuring ingredients while baking, or playing board games that involve strategic thinking, there are endless opportunities to incorporate math into daily life.
  2. Online Resources: Explore educational websites and apps that offer math games and puzzles tailored to your child's grade level like Freckle. These interactive tools make learning math enjoyable and engaging.
  3. Family Challenges: Create friendly math challenges for the whole family to participate in. From solving riddles to measuring objects around the house, these activities promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills playfully.

Important Dates:

Please note that Vessels Elementary School will be closed from March 25 until Monday, April 1 for spring break. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday, April 2, refreshed and ready for a successful final stretch of the school year.

Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable spring break filled with learning adventures!

SBAC Squad

CAASPP testing begins in April! The SBAC Squad at Vessels devised a fun way to celebrate while keeping our kids focused and ready to go! Each week starting April 29 has a theme:

  • April 29 – Focus
  • May 6 - Stamina
  • May 13 - Attitude

All third through sixth-grade teachers will give raffle tickets to those who show these qualities through the testing period. At the end of the week, we will raffle off prizes. It is as easy as that!

Ensure all the kids are here each day throughout the testing period! Thank you for your support and for making Vessels the best place for kids to learn and grow!
