Math Team State Results

The RB Math Team had all six qualifying teams place in the top 20 in the state at the ICTM State Finals! Here are the results of the competition:

The geometry team of Quinn Hendricks, Wyatt Hoffmann, Isaac Lee, Tabitha Relyea, Zack Rosenfeld, and Jane Tselepis placed 9th.

The Freshman/Sophomore 8-Person Team of Joe Duffy, Addriza Risha, Mitch Scheuermann, Dylan Strobel, Quinn Hendricks, Wyatt Hoffmann, Isaac Lee, and Jane Tselepis placed 11th.

The Junior/Senior 8-Person Team of Nate Kissel, Avi Ponnappan, Lukas Stripeikis, Emma Strong, Luke Berndt, Ella Herr, Will Sessler, and Max Swicionis placed 14th.

Sophie May placed 14th out of 163 in the Algebra 1 competition.

The Algebra 1 Team of Joe Duffy, Sophie May, Addriza Risha, Mitch Scheuermann, and Dylan Strobel placed 16th.

The Pre-Calculus Team of Daniel Almeida, Luke Berndt, Ella Herr, Mak Scheuermann, Val Spevacek, and David Vacca placed 16th.

The Orals Team of Sophie May and Mak Scheuermann placed 20th.

Isaac Lee placed 21st out of 290 in the geometry competition.

FCCLA State Send Off!

Congratulations and good luck to FCCLA members Jessica Bellm, Mikaela Hogue, Isabella Romero, and Mariah Watkins-Sanders as they compete in the FCCLA state competition this weekend! Jessica Bellm, Isabella Romero, and Mariah Watkins-Sanders are competing in the Frosted Cake events and Mikaela Hogue is competing in the Charcuterie Board events.

No Idling Signs Installed on RB's Campus

Every school year, students in the Riverside Brookfield Ecology Club select an environmental issue and create a project to both increase awareness about the problem and to offer possible solutions.

After several months of research, the club created a detailed presentation on the health, economic, and environmental impacts of car idling at RB and presented it to several members of the RB Administration and Building and Grounds Department in early March. 

With the approval of Superintendent Dr. Skinkis and Matthew Buckley, Village of Riverside Director of Public Safety, seven signs for Golf and Ridgewood Roads were purchased by the District shortly before spring break. The signs were installed by Village Public Works Director Dan Tabb (RB Class of ‘99) on Friday, April 12th. 

The RB Ecology Club hopes that all RB community members will do their part to reduce air pollution, conserve gasoline, and minimize idling’s impact on student health when they are waiting to pick up their child from RB. Turning off one’s car while waiting is a small thing which will make a big difference. The RB Ecology Club thanks you for your support!

The Entrepreneur Fair will take place on Tuesday, April 30 in the Student Cafe during all lunches and in the Alumni Lounge after school. School Safety Training at Brookfield Zoo Chicago

On April 11, Dr. Skinkis, Dr. Freytas, and Mr. Mannon presented at the Riverside Brookfield Shield Active Threat Tabletop Exercise at Brookfield Zoo Chicago. RB administrators reviewed the school’s active threat safety plan and identified procedures to establish and maintain communications between affected communities in the unlikely event of an emergency. Brookfield, Riverside, and North Riverside Police Departments also attended to collaborate and review RB’s active threat procedures. Thank you to the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security for organizing this training to ensure the continued safety of our students, staff, families, and local communities. 

Concession Stand Naming Contest

RBHS students are invited to submit their ideas for a name for the Indoor/Outdoor Concession Stands. For example, “The Dog House”...but we know you can come up with even more creative ideas!

The two best names will serve as the official designation for the Concession Stands and will appear on a banner to be hung at the serving window. The deadline to submit an entry is April 19th. Submit as many entries as you’d like! Winners receive a $100 Amazon Card AND a Free RB Sweatshirt!!
