An Easter Gift from Pastor and Principal Matyas

Dear St. Paul Parents and Staff,

Pastor and I would like to offer you an Easter Gift–a year’s access to RightNow Media. Please read this letter from me to learn more, and look for an email on Good Friday. The world is full of media content, may RightNow Media offer you content that helps you and your family grow spiritually.

Happy Easter!

Principal Valerie Matyas

March is Reading Month - Thank You

Thank you to Mrs. Dent and all of the creative and generous people who helped to make March is Reading Month great! Our students read an incredible 1,418 hours (85,080 minutes) during March. Thank you for encouraging your students to read. Thank you for promoting literacy rich environments at home. Thanks for helping to develop strong readers.

Loons Reading Awards

Students who successfully completed the Great Lakes Loons Reading Program can use this link to redeem their prizes:

Congratulations on your great work!

A note from our Great Lakes Loon liaison Ashtyn Hescott: https://fevo.me/24read

We are prepared for the redemption process to start on Monday, April 1st so that students have the entire month of March to reach or go beyond their reading goals. The ticket link will allow parents to select one of three reading program games (May 11th, May 25th, and June 9th). May 11th is a Saturday game featuring our 4H friends, animals, and a ton of fun and educational content. May 25th is another Saturday game featuring our Fireworks Loontacular show, and finally Sunday June 9th is our newly added Peanuts Day featuring all things Charlie Brown. Sundays also include our Kids Eat Free and Run the Bases promotion which can be a great opportunity for the reading program students to participate in!

The ticket link is the same process as last year, so most people should be familiar with it. The link will allow parents to claim one free voucher for the reading program game that they choose. They can then purchase additional tickets, at a discounted price, for themselves and other family members to attend that game with their student. If parents have multiple students participating in the reading program, once they’ve claimed one of their free vouchers and purchased their additional tickets, they can call me at 989-837-6161 and I will add the extra complimentary vouchers to their account for their other student participants.

Solar Eclipse - Monday, April 8, 2024

A note from Mr. Dan and Mrs. Nicole Covieo (parents of Calvin 4th grade and Elaina 6th grade):

"On April 8th there will be a Total Solar Eclipse viewable in our area, that will not be viewable again until 2044. It will be an awesome, vivid embodiment of the opening words in Psalm 19: “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”

We have purchased enough Solar Eclipse glasses to provide the whole school with the opportunity to safely view it. The glasses are American made, ISO certified and were purchased from a business recognized by the AAS as an authorized dealer of eclipse glasses. We will bring them in as soon as they arrive."

The teachers plan on having the students ready for an eclipse viewing on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 2:40 pm. All backpacks and coats will be with students. Students will have the glasses on and will have the opportunity to experience the eclipse. Young 5’s-8th grade will be by the large playground and the gym entrance. Preschoolers will be near their entrance. Parents and grandparents are invited to join the eclipse watching, but will need to bring/borrow either their own protective eye wear or an instrument for viewing. Dismissal will still occur when the bell rings at 3:00 pm. We will dismiss directly from the eclipse viewing. On Monday, please be patient with us as we pause to watch God’s creation.

St. Patrick Day Parade Appreciation

St. Paul experienced a great turn-out for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. MLive captured a beautiful photo of our float. Thank you to the many people who participated in the parade and for those who made the float a possibility. You are all appreciated!

Thank You - Camp LuLayLea Campership Lenten Dinner

A huge thank you to all who attended and donated to the Lenten Dinner on Wednesday, March 20. Through your generosity, we were able to raise enough money to allocate $40 to each of the 14 campers who worked to make the dinner possible. This will help to offset the cost of camper tuition for those 14 campers. We look forward to doing it again next year!
