March Highlighted by State CDC

On March 20, more than 250 JAG-K students and staff gathered at Fort Hays State University for the annual State Career Development Conference (CDC).

Students competed in events that showcase competencies attained in the program. They also voted for new state officers for next year and met with about a dozen potential employers at a career fair.

JAG-K thanks the university for hosting us, and the Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner and the Taco Bell Foundation for sponsoring the CDC.

Student Journalist Reports on CDC

On March 20, the state competition for JAG-K took place. On this day, teams all across the state of Kansas competed in multiple events. While I did not compete in any event, my time was still memorable. From the start of the day to the end of the day, I interacted with a plethora of students who competed in events. It was an interesting experience to see people from all across the state come together for a single event.

The students I interacted with before their respective events were often nervous for what was yet to come. One group within the Business Plan competition, who made a collar for dogs that does not hurt the animal, said, “We are all nervous, but I think we all feel good about this competition.”

It was fun to see the competition between the new leadership members as well. Fun speeches flowed throughout the morning while it ended with great prizes and awards. I enjoyed seeing the fun expressions on everyone’s faces while they won their positions, scholarships, and awards. Overall, the state competition for JAG-K was a wonderful experience that everyone should get the chance to go to.
