Spring Has Sprung

Dear Friends,

Next week we will celebrate Holy Week! This week is more significant than any other time of the year for the Christian. However, we often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Easter just like Christmas. Some think Good Friday is a good excuse for a day off from work. Some think Good Friday is the start of Spring Break vacation. Many families will be gathering but many will get caught up in the planning for the event but when the event is over, we are emptier than before. Many of us are going through the motions of Easter but are we really reflecting on the cross and the importance of the Christ’s sacrifice. I have been guilty of that myself. In the past I have been so busy prepping for the Holiday that I fail at spending the personal time with Christ.

This year I plan to be more intentional with Easter. I invite you to join me. I plan to spend a significant amount of time each day in silence to hear God’s voice each day during this week. I plan to focus on the Scripture of this week and allow Jesus to speak to me about its significance. I also plan to do daily devotions with my children during Holy Week in order to ensure that I am instilling the truth of Easter in my children. I want them to know that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our faith and without His death we would not be set free.

I want my children to understand the depth of love that Jesus Christ has for us to give His life as a ransom for our sins. He gave His life despite knowing that some would permanently reject Him and live eternally in Hell. Yet He still chose to die for the love of humanity. That is a love that is hard to grasp. I remind myself quite often that if God never does anything else for me, the death of His Son is enough.

Our praise should resonate with that gratitude. When we fully realize how much Jesus loved us and still loves us, we can still praise even on our darkest day and in our lowest valley.

During this Easter season, I encourage you to take the time to remember the sacrifice of Jesus, the love of Jesus and faithfulness of Jesus. I feel in my Spirit the time to preserve the truth of the Gospel is now more than ever. Parents we must focus on the succession of our faith in our children. We cannot depend on anyone else to teach them to truth. But more importantly, we must live the truth before them each and every day.

Until next time!
