An update from this past Tuesday:

We received a phone call from Pastor Livenson on Monday. Per his request, the Executive Committee approved and has sent his stipend a week early, as well as an additional $1,500 to help him feed the members of his congregations.

He is taking every precaution possible to protect himself and the funds we’ve sent to him.

Upon receiving the funds, Pr. Livenson contacted me on WhatsApp and said, “Oh my dear friend, this comes as the biggest blessing ever. I guarantee you everything will take place as usual. We will keep in touch! I send my love to you, your family, and the whole church!”

Please continue to keep Pr. Livenson, the ELH, and the people of Haiti in your prayers. We will send updates out as soon as we receive them. Thank you all for your continued support to our brother in Christ.

Grateful,

Pr. Will

Barb's Medical Minute

Cooking tips: Help for those of you that do that sort of thing anymore, or just interesting for the restaurant goers.

  • Store bay leaves in the freezer, they are more flavorful than those stored at room temperature.
  • When cooking with wine, cheap is fine. (Hey, I rhyme!) There is no taste advantage to using expensive wine.
  • The best way to cook a steak? Take it from the freezer, clunk it into a screaming-hot skillet for 90 seconds on each side, then put it in the oven for 20 min. Let it rest, then enjoy. The exterior will develop an impressive sear while the superchilled interior is resistant to overcooking. The meat is juicy and rosy. Try it!!
  • Add a teaspoon of unflavored gelatin per cup of store-bought chicken broth to give it good body. I wish that is all it took to get a good body!!

Please keep the following people in your prayers:

  • Ellie Boehmer
  • Caroline Giambattista
  • Tim Huber (Becky Rothgery's brother)
  • Nancy Jones
  • Pat Ross

Joe & Janet Fulkerson list Appleton, Wisconsin as their hometown. Joe enjoys music, sports, and reading. Janet enjoys golf, reading, biking, and walking.

Fran Ferguson was born in Vermont. He is a retired engineer and enjoys cooking and traveling with Candi. He has a home maintenance & handyman business.

God's Blessing to all of you as you continue to grow your faith at Emmanuel.
