A NIGHT OF AWARDS, GRATITUDE, AND SHARED COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION

In a splendid affair, last Thursday marked the grand celebration of PESA's 10th Anniversary Gala. The evening unfolded with a perfect blend of elegance and festivity, uniting over 120 attendees in a shared commitment to fostering community transformation through education, mentorship and advocacy. From delectable dinners to heartwarming speeches, the night was a tapestry of moments that highlighted a decade of PESA's invaluable impact.

The gala commenced with a dinner, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air. Attendees savored not just the culinary delights but also the sense of community that permeated the venue. The night continued with a captivating silent auction, where the generosity of the guests truly shone. Elsa Ochoa, Harriet Fike, Michael Johnson, Elizabeth Hernandez, Jannet Munguia, Jessica Santillian, and Julie Grene were among the generous souls who not only donated but also emerged victorious in the spirited auction.

The highlight of the evening, however, was the recognition of outstanding individuals who have made indelible contributions to the cause of community transformation. Seymour Amster, PESA's Executive Director, took the stage to commend the award honorees for their unwavering dedication:

  • Outstanding Parent Award: Gilceria Padilla
  • Inspirational Educator Award: Precious Hoback
  • Champion for Student Award: Marilyn Papiewski
  • Emerging Student Leader: Emely Gonzalez
  • Agent of Change Award: Assemblymember Miguel Santiago

Each awardee epitomizes the cherished values that PESA holds in high regard: Parents, Educators, Teachers, Students and individuals who take Action. It is no coincidence that this also embodies the organization's name. As the night unfolded, Assemblymember Miguel Santiago, the recipient of the Agent of Change Award, shared poignant insights: “The thing I love most about PESA is how it brings people together, gives to the next generation, and uplifts families.” The anniversary video conveyed the journey of PESA, underlining the transformative impact it has had on students, educators, and communities alike

In closing, heartfelt appreciation was extended to everyone who attended and those who were unable to make it but contributed nonetheless. As PESA celebrates its past, we now look ahead to the future with the same mission and values that have allowed us to be so successful thus far.
