City's Annual Holiday Extravaganza Brings Spirit, Joy For Families

Hundreds of residents, families and visitors were all "rocking the night away" at this year's annual Holiday Extravaganza, which took place at the Forest Park Amphitheater. Hosted by Streetz 94.5 Atlanta's Mz. Shyneka, the event featured the city's popular downtown parade off Main Street and the official lighting of the Christmas tree at Starr Park. Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, live performances and plenty of family activities were also available during the celebration. Shoutout to Chick-fil-A Forest Park, located at 4959 Jonesboro Rd., for all the amazing giveaways that were provided in support of the event!

Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, Hosts 15th Annual Christmas Giveaway Event

In partnership with the Changin' Hearts Foundation, Cathy Collins House of Hope and Rose of Sharon, Forest Park Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, proudly hosted the 15th Annual Christmas Giveaway event at the Forest Park Recreation and Leisure Center. Dozens of attendees packed the venue to enjoy plenty of family fun activities, including photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, bounce houses, arts and crafts, and of course, plenty of free toys.

Thank you to all the volunteers, staff and event organizers who all helped to make this year's event possible.

New Updated Signage, Playground Amenities Coming To City Parks

Out with the old and in with the new for 2025! Over the next several weeks, residents will notice brand new updated signage being installed at several parks and recreational areas throughout the city. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of the first quarter of this year.


Along with the new signage, the city is also in the process of adding new playground equipment for families and visitors alike to enjoy. Click here for a full list of parks located throughout the city.

City Officials, Staff Honor Former Patrolman Ricky L. Cash

On Wednesday, January 3, 1996, Patrolman Ricky L. Cash answered the call and paid the ultimate sacrifice. This month, city officials, staff and members of the Forest Park Police Department gathered to commemorate the anniversary of his passing after tragically being shot and killed during a traffic stop at the intersection of Jonesboro Road and College Street. Patrolman Cash served the police department for over three years. He was survived by his wife, son, stepdaughter, and daughter.
