Sermon Series: The Act or Action

-ation: noun suffix. The act, or action, or process of doing something.

An encounter with Jesus always necessitates a response, an action. We must “put into practice” that which we experienced through the power of the Holy Spirit. As we return from our Lenten focus on considering what we believe in light of Christ, now we must put into practice that which we’ve been shown. This series will follow the early church as the narrative in the book of Acts transitions from Paul to Peter, from Jew to Gentile, from the known to the unknown.

Resurrection

Sunday, May 12th

“Resurrection: a state of one risen from the dead.”

Another movement of the Spirit, another hyperlink to the ministry of Jesus. Peter is invited to come to Joppa because Tabitha, a disciple of Jesus, had died. The healing of Tabitha echoes the account of Jesus’ raising of Jairus’ daughter and even further back in the Hebrew Scriptures to healings performed by Elijah and Elisha. This narrative highlights further that the mission of God, from the beginning, is to bring life to a dying world and He does this in and through His people.

Daily Prayers, Digging Deeper Guide and coordinating Life Group Curriculum are available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (for this week and ALL previous weeks) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Adventure:Kids News

This week in Adventure:Kids, the kids will dive into John 21, reading about the profound moment when Jesus forgave Peter. Although the disciples had turned away from Jesus when He was arrested, Jesus still wanted to use them in God’s plan—as fishers of men who would tell people the good news about Jesus.

Key Passage: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” - John 17:3

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

Sermon notes and challenges for families are available on the Adventure:Kids Facebook page, OR click here for a pdf version.

Senegal Night at BaseCamp -- Let's keep celebrating Missions in May! Some highlights from our Senegal Night including hearing Jack and Christyn share about their last trip to Senegal (see Christyn's video above!), eating delicious Senegalese dinner, enjoying a dessert challenge the kids went crazy for, and there were some pretty awesome small group conversations. It's really cool to see how God continues to work through our partners in Senegal, those devoted to going on trips, and the amount of people who support these mission opportunities through a variety of other ways! Missed the updates? Visit the cafe on Sunday and ask!

God is Good!

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
