STORM ADVENTURE RACE

The Storm Approaches...

Feel that? It's EXCITEMENT! The days are feeling longer, while the weather is teasing us of what's to come. And you're thinking about adventures ahead, right? Well, we're working hard on planning Saturday, May 25th at Island Lake Conservation Area in Orangeville to make it your BEST DAY of adventure.

We've got a newsletter jam-packed with information to help you get ready for May..

First up: Storm Adventure Race is almost 80% SOLD OUT. We are excited about the adventure possibilities surrounding Orangeville's Island Lake Conservation Area but the reality is, there are space limitations at the host site, which means we will be capping the number of participants. Registration is now open so don't miss out on your spot.

We are also running low on canoe rentals, so don't delay if renting helps float your boat.

Making a day like Storm happen requires many hands. We rely on the support of VOLUNTEERS to create a great race experience and WE NEED MORE!

  • New to the sport? Volunteering is a great way to experience what adventure racing is all about.
  • Family coming along? Make a day of it & encourage them to help out (and cheer you on course!)

What makes a good Adventure Racing volunteer? A pulse & a smile! Roles include helping with morning setup/registration, start/finish line crew and transition area staff out on course.

Volunteers get swaggy shirts, post-race meal, and the undying gratitude of the Storm team and every racer out there.

Want to help? Reach out and we'll find you a role!

Here's a sneak peek at the 2024 Storm race technical shirt. We've tested it extensively and have determined racers will be 4.8% faster in these shirts.

And word on the street is there's an exclusive FINISHERS BUFF for you when you get to the finish line. The swag don't stop, amiright?

Yeah, Isaac knew what's up.

Maybe he was an adventure racer. We recommend Newton's first law of motion as a philosophy for life: you get moving & it's easier to keep moving. Here are some Ontario adventures to get you moving & ready for Storm:

Team-Based Running with Navigation: DONTGETLOST Raid The Rib Adventure Run

April 21, 2024 (Niagara Region)

A Don't Get Lost spring classic, guaranteed to send you places you haven't been before. The steep cliffs and rocky ground of the Niagara Escarpment delivers a great physical and navigational challenge. There's more to Niagara than what you can see from the QEW.

Team-Based Running with Navigation: Challenge The Shield Adventure Run

May 5, 2024 (Parry Sound)

Take your nav skills out for a real test. Orienteering champions Mike Waddington & Wil Smith are back with the 2nd annual Challenge the Shield Adventure Run. This awe-inspiring 2-hour or 6-hour wilderness endurance challenge on the rugged Canadian Shield for teams of two. You'll run or trek to as many of the 35 checkpoint challenges amongst the iconic windswept pines, pristine lakes and granite rock barrens.

Team-Based Mountain Biking:

Spring Epic 8 Hour Relay

May 11, 2024 (Mansfield)

Mid-may is perfect timing to round into biking shape. Our friends at Super Fly Racing put on a great day, with a festival atmosphere as you and your team (or solo, if you're one of those…) complete laps around the epic trail network. It's the 20th Anniversary for this great event.

Who wants a Post-Storm Cold One?

We're pleased to welcome Harmon's Craft Brewing as a Storm supporter. You'll be able to toast to your day's adventures with one of their full-flavoured craft beer that just happens to be non-alcoholic.

Watch out for Adventurous Bunnies
