Northbound MacArthur Boulevard

Off-Ramp Activities

Crews are currently rebuilding the curbs along the northbound MacArthur Boulevard off-ramp, which requires closing one left turn lane on the off-ramp. The ramp is expected to return to its original configuration by late summer.

Coming Soon! Crews are also scheduled to reconstruct the northbound MacArthur Boulevard off-ramp to accommodate the freeway improvements. This work requires a 10-day consecutive closure of the off-ramp. Additional information will be provided in future communications.

Lane Channel Update

Crews are beginning to focus their efforts on reconstructing the southern end of the Lane Channel, just north of MacArthur Boulevard. Pile driving activities began earlier this week to install shoring plates that will provide temporary support as the remaining portion of the channel is being demolished and reconstructed. This work will take place intermittently over the next several weeks.

Construction generally occurs on weekdays, Monday through Friday, between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Businesses adjacent to this work may be impacted by noise and vibration.

About the Project

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
