2023 Review
Although the year is not yet complete, I did want to share some analysis that you might find helpful. Looking through both legacy accounts, and those on v3.0, we found some interesting statistics. On the legacy side, we found that there were many accounts that have been on the platform for 5 years or more. Activity was mixed, but we picked up on something: In some cases up to 60% of the users had downloaded the app, but never checked in. At first glance I was surprised. What was more surprising was that over 50% of those subscribers were still actively looking at the app. They opened the app with some regularity.
Not sure if this was a one off, I reviewed over a dozen accounts. While many were not as high as 60%, but the trend of users accessing the app, but not using the check in feature persisted. So I filed that away.
In reviewing the v3.0 (since it's launch in late March 2023), we saw a significant uptick in user engagement, as well as new sign ups. While this was not universally the case (you do still need to promote it), new subscribers sign ups were brisk. With the v3.0 admin section we are now able to track every interaction with the app - if the subscribers read a post, redeem a deal, answer a poll questions, or look for directions - it creates a datapoint. Data. Not worth much until you aggregate it and analyze it.
That's where our ability to integrate AI tools come in. When we fed in all the data to Chatgpt we found a couple of things that stood out. User engagement (users measured against check-ins) was 99%. That means that the app was definitely driving users to the store. A check-in is a validation of a purchase, which earns a 'punch'. Great! However, the other bit on the graph was that user engagement on posts (content) was three times as great as check-ins. Anecdotally, we have also noticed that the percentage of users who chose to receive push notifications was over 90%.
When you combine these insights, a pattern develops. People like engaging your brand. It isn't always about what's on sale, but rather what's new; what's interesting and what's inspiring. The app platform is at it's core a tool for connection and communication. If you reward people with interesting information, and form personal connections, your customers will respond.
What are the takeaways? Keep your stream content fresh. Communicate on a regular basis and realize it isn't all about deals and discounts. People are interested in gardening. Give them a peak into your world. Empower staff, and even your own customers, to share what they love - plants.
Now you might not feel as though you have time or expertise to create interesting content, but we can help you with that. Starting January 1st, Sunrise Marketing will be offering an augmented service for v3.0 app clients where we will generate fresh content, run polls, create deals and send push notifications for you.
We have been offering this service to our website customers for years now. All of the content is specific to your business, with your key products, plants and staff featured in each post. For a preview, check out our monthly content survey>
We hope you will also check out the latest training video as well as step by step instructions on how to use the new AI image generator in the admin panel.
And as always, please contact us with any questions.
