Future of Our Block Update

Dear saints,

Last Sunday, we offered back to you what we heard you say about the future of All Saints' on this city block. Sunday marked the end of our "information gathering" phase. Given that, this will be the final weekly email I will send about the block until the fall, although I will write again in about a month once the full report of all of your comments and reflections is ready to go out. As Hank Houser (from Houser Walker, with whom we are working on the block discernment process) said on Sunday, we are a tremendously thoughtful parish.

If you missed the presentation on Sunday, you can view a video of it here

During the next few months the Future of Our Block steering committee will work through all that you have shared, looking at the feasibility of a variety of options for the block. We will also speak to our institutional neighbors, investigate our options in terms of available space and potential use, and do a thorough study of our long term financials and the condition of each of our buildings. At the end of that work, we will return to the parish in the fall and present to you what we have found and concluded about all of that data.

As I said at the end of Sunday's forum, we are trying to strike a balance between transparency and being overly repetitive. We won't always get that balance right, but we do want to be as good stewards as we can of this process as we know you wish to be of our church community and city block.

Should you wish to be in touch over the summer, please don't hesitate to reach out to me, or to email the committee at: futureofourblock@allsaintsatlanta.org.

Blessings to one and all as you rest and travel near and far.

Peace,

Simon Mainwaring, Rector
