Honoring All Who Have Served
On this Veterans Day, we honor generations of patriots who have earned the title of American Veteran — a badge of courage that unites the finest military service members the world has ever known. With their selfless sacrifice, our Armed Forces have forged and defended the very idea of America — a promise of freedom and equality, democracy and justice, possibility and hope. To our Veterans, we owe you an incredible debt that can never be fully repaid. Your sacrifices and contributions are deeply appreciated, and we stand united in admiration of your service!

This is not an average picture of female officers. We are the Executive Officers (XO), Directors, and Aide-de-Camps (ADC) of the Chief and Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau. Every officer in this picture exudes excellence backed by grit, determination, and a strong work ethic. For the first time in history, members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s two key personal staff are Korean-American female Colonels. Colonel Lee is an Air Force officer and Director of the Chief Action Group. Colonel Jeana Cho is an Army officer and Executive Officer to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau (CNGB).

COL Irene V. Glaeser, USA, Retired
Shares Her Story
"Choose Your Battles: One Woman's Inspiring Journey Through The Ranks" is an autobiographical book written by Army Combat Veteran Colonel (Retired) Irene V. Glaeser that offers a look into the lesser-known narrative of America's courageous servicewomen and the formidable challenges they faced and often continue to face today. In her candid book, Colonel Glaeser chronicles her unique military journey, often with humor but also pathos, as she recounts barriers women who entered and served in the military in the '80s and '90s faced and recounts lessons learned along the way.
Irene Glaeser enlisted in 1983 and, upon commissioning, was stationed in then-Cold War West Germany as a Military Police Officer. Her assignments have taken her to numerous stateside locations and South Korea, Australia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Retiring from the Army in 2014 and from federal service in 2022, Irene Glaeser is the CEO of Spahr Solutions Group, LLC.

The Pritzker Military Museum & Library (PMM&L) aims to increase the public's understanding of military history, military affairs, and national security by providing a forum for the study and exploration of our military - past, present, and future - with a specific focus on their stories, sacrifices, and values. With national and global reach, these spaces and events aim to share the stories of those who served and their contributions as citizen soldiers, helping citizens everywhere appreciate the relationship between the armed forces and the civilians whose freedoms they protect. A non-governmental, non-partisan organization, the Museum & Library features diverse collections, scholarly initiatives, and public programs from its flagship center in downtown Chicago to its world-class research center and park in Somers, Wisconsin.
In celebration of its 20th Anniversary this year, PMM&L has an evolved brand look with a new logo. The mark is designed with simplicity to reflect the Museum & Library’s aim to connect with everyone, from long-time scholars to first-time explorers. One white star represents the bright light that shines through our military service members, past and present, as they continue to protect the way of life we all cherish.
