JOIN A NATIONAL ERG STEERING COMMITTEE

National Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are currently looking for dynamic leaders to join their national steering committees. Comprised of local Y staff and volunteers, each committee works to support the YMCA's national diversity and inclusion efforts by providing opportunities for people at all professional levels and backgrounds to build skills to engage underserved communities, build bridges between communities, network, share knowledge and experiences, inform strategic decisions and have fun with other cause-driven professionals. Six active ERGs and two forming ERGs are open to all Y staff and volunteers.

  • African-American Resource Network (AARN)
  • Asian Pacific Islander Leadership Network (APILN)
  • Disability Community Resource Network (DCRN)-Forming
  • Emerging Leaders Resource Network (ELRN)
  • Hispanic-Latino Leadership Network (HLLN)
  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer Resource Network (LGBTQ RN)
  • Native American Indigenous Resource Network (NAIRN)-Forming
  • Women's Leadership Resource Network (WLRN)

 

STEERING COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Steering Committee members are representatives from across the country who oversee the general affairs of the membership, committees/task forces, and programming of the ERG. Each Steering Committee member is required to:

  • Attend and participate in one face-to-face Steering Committee meeting (two days) per calendar year (paid for by Y-USA - Next event is Sep 29-Oct 1 in Virginia Beach, VA)
  • Attend and participate in any/all other Steering Committee meetings via Zoom and/or webinar
  • Participate on committee/task force meetings and prepare work as assigned
  • Publicly and privately support the work of all ERGs and the Ys national equity strategy
  • Serve as a visible champion for their Associations diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Fulfill other job responsibilities as the ERG deems necessary and within reason
  • Commit to serving a full term on the ERG Steering Committee (three years with opportunity to renew one additional term)
  • Please note, Steering Committee volunteer time commitment is estimated at 80-100 hours per year. All National ERG Steering Committee members must have full support of their local YMCA Association to participate.

The NJ YMCA State Alliance invites you to the 11th Annual Culture of Health Conference: Navigating Systems for Deepening Community Impact, on Friday, May 10th at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch.
