National Hurricane Preparedness Week (May 5-11) raises awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time.

June 1 is the start of hurricane season and there are several ways to make sure you are prepared. Review Broward County's Hurricane Preparedness Guide, providing important information to use before, during and after a storm. Make sure you assemble a hurricane supply kit by using the Hurricane Kit Shopping Guide. Find all this and more, including shelter locations and evacuation routes, at Broward.org/Hurricane.

Broward County is one of three U.S. sites chosen to host the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in June at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium. This is the first time the T20 World Cup will be held in the U.S. with the first match in Broward on Tuesday, June 11.

Meet and Greet with Cricket Stars
The official ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour at Broward County Stadium takes place on Monday, May 6 from 5-8pm. Take photos with the iconic 2024 World Cup trophy, tour the newly renovated stadium, and enjoy live music and food trucks at this free community event.

To kick off National Public Works Week (May 19-25), the County’s Public Works Department will be hosting a Career Fair on Saturday, May 18 from 10am-2pm at the Highway & Bridge Maintenance building in Pompano Beach.

From maintaining stormwater systems and providing water and wastewater services to managing traffic signals and operating and repairing bridges, all these services are critical to keeping the County running.
The Career Fair will feature equipment demonstrations and attendees will be able to meet hiring managers, chat with human resources staff and interact with Public Works professionals, plus there will be fun family activities. Jobs range from fieldwork to management positions.
Introducing the Citizen Data Portal
The County is building a new Citizen Data Portal designed to promote transparency, accountability, and civic engagement to residents. This new centralized platform, created by the County’s Innovation Unit, has information on a variety of topics ranging from public services and climate data to finances, health, and education.

A month of workshops led by industry experts on sales, marketing, and developing effective business plans. Presented by the Broward Cultural Division, this series concludes with a business plan clinic in collaboration with the Florida Small Business Development Center. Reserve your spot today. May is Air Quality Awareness Month: Find ways to help reduce the impacts of climate change and help improve air quality. 
Construction has begun on the Port Everglades Bypass Road

Serving as an alternative route, this road will improve travel time and traffic flow on certain sections of US-1 and SE 17th Street near the Port. The road will provide direct connectivity around Port Everglades, Broward County Convention Center and new Headquarters Hotel, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, beaches and local businesses in the area. Completion is schedule to for late 2025, in conjunction with the grand opening of the expanded Broward County Convention Center and new Omni Hotel
