Greetings from the Music Ministry
Hello New Life Church!
In John 4 we read the story of the woman at the well, where Jesus says to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst again.”
Jesus uses this metaphor to show how it is only He who can supply our every need and satisfy us completely. Thirst is such a powerful craving in our earthly bodies. Everyone understands unquenched thirst. Jesus wants us to crave and desire a relationship with Him and uses this physical need to express just how much we should seek a relationship with Him. We should crave Him with the same intensity we crave water when we are utterly parched. Do we want Him that much? Do we need Him for our very existence?
Jesus invites us all to come to Him and receive this living water. He calls the weary, tired, and poor to come rest in Him. In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Are you craving Jesus? Are you coming to Him with all your burdens and drinking of the living water He offers? This week our anthem bids you come. I pray that we all will drink of the Living Water Christ offers. Lay it all down and Come to the water, Come to the Lord.
Come to the Water - By John B. Foley / arr. by Jack Schrader
O let all who thirst, let them come to the water
And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord
Without money, without price
Why should you pay the price, except for the Lord?
And let all who seek, let them come to the water
And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord
Without money, without strife
Why should you spend your life, except for the Lord?
And let all who toil, let them come to the water
And let all who are weary, let them come to the Lord
All who labor without rest
How can your soul find rest, except for the Lord?
And let all the poor, let them come to the water,
Bring the ones who are laden, bring them all to the Lord
Bring the children, without might
Easy the Load and light, come to the Lord
Come to the water
Come to the Lord
I would love to invite anyone who would be interested in helping with the music ministry this summer to reach out to me. We would love to have solos and instrumentalists and even more choir participants, even if you are normally not in the choir all year. E-mail me if you are interested.
Also, If you love to sing, please consider joining the Chancel Choir. We meet on Thursday evenings from 7-9 PM. We sing most Sunday mornings during the 9:15 service and are very flexible with travel plans and needing to be away at times. We have a wide variety of musicians with various backgrounds and there is a place for you! Please consider coming to a rehearsal to see if you would like to join us in this very fulfilling ministry.
