The Biden Administration has approved the addition of Dallas County to the Presidential Disaster Declaration making assistance accessible for those impacted by last week's severe weather. Those impacted can now apply for The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual Assistance Program.
FEMA may be able to help you with home repairs, temporary housing, or property damage (appliances, furniture, vehicle, etc). You may also qualify for help with child care, medical, lodging, moving, and funeral expenses.
To apply:
-
Visit disasterassistance.gov.
- Install the FEMA app on your smartphone.
- Contact the FEMA hotline from 6:00 AM to 10 PM at (800) 621-3362. This line is accessible in the majority of languages.
This aid is restricted to Dallas County citizens.
Did you apply and receive a non-approval letter? If so, please read below.
Dallas County was added to the list of Declared Disaster Areas on 6/5/2024. If you applied for FEMA Individual Assistance before the date of 6/5/2024 due to impacts of the severe weather/wind event the week of 5/27/2024, you may have received a non-approval letter from FEMA because “you reported losses in an undeclared location”. After 6/5/2024, all Dallas County residents became eligible for FEMA assistance. Your submitted application should have remained in FEMA’s system and begun processing as of 6/5/2024.
To verify that your application is now being processed, residents are encouraged to call FEMA’s Helpline at 1-800-621-3362. Provide them with the FEMA Registration number you were given at the time of your application submittal.
