An Evening with Aaron Blake &
Farewell to President Whitaker
King University was proud to welcome acclaimed Grammy-winning Metropolitan Opera Tenor, Aaron Blake, and pianist Cris Frisco to First Presbyterian Church in Bristol on April 1. Following Mr. Blake's performance was a reception to celebrate the esteemed service of King University President Alexander Whitaker. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to the King Institute for Faith & Culture, along with members of King's Board of Trustees, whose invaluable support made this exceptional event possible.
The University is delighted to announce that Aaron Blake has agreed to join King for the 2024-2025 academic year as Artist in Residence. Aaron regularly performs with world-class musicians including the Metropolitan Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Los Angeles Symphony and Israeli Symphony. He will be offering his expertise to students in the arts at King.

In Memoriam: Dr. Richard Ray
It is with profound sadness that we report our beloved friend and colleague The Reverend Richard A. Ray, Ph.D., D.Litt., passed away on April 10. He was 88. In myriad and consequential ways Dr. Ray gave decades of his life to King: as faculty member, as trustee, and as interim president at a critical moment in the school’s history. Few, if any, could be said to have left a greater positive mark on King than Dick Ray. He was for many of us a great friend, example, mentor, and encourager. All of us who had the privilege to know and work with Dr. Ray will feel this loss profoundly. Those of us who did not know Dr. Ray nonetheless benefit daily from his many gifts of himself to this school and its community — as will all who follow us. He long ago joined the pantheon of greats who have formed the King we all know and love.

Spectrometer Fundraiser in honor of
Dr. Simeon Pickard
In honor of Dr. Simeon Pickard’s 32 years of service and his coming retirement, King would like to encourage donations to the Chemistry department to be used in the purchase of an NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectrometer that will be utilized by all science programs at King. The American Chemical Society has identified this as the most critical piece of equipment for any Chemistry program and King is without one. Please consider making your donation today by clicking here.
