A BIG THANK YOU TO THE VILLAGE OF ELK RAPIDS, THE DPW, THE ELK RAPIDS POLICE DEPT FOR ALL THEIR ASSISTANCE IN HELPING WITH THE FARMERS MARKET DOWNTOWN.

WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!

Elk Rapids Farmers Market Moving to New Location This Season

Big Announcement! The Elk Rapids Farmers Market is moving downtown Elk Rapids for the season.

The decision to move for the season is driven by the Paddle Antrim-Rotary Park construction, which is set to begin on Monday, June 10, 2024.

The Chamber of Commerce reviewed all options for alternative locations and determined the best location was the Cedar Street Parking Lot in Downtown Elk Rapids. The lot is directly behind the Dexter Hotel and accessible from Cedar Street between River Street and Harbor Drive. The market will still be held each Friday from 8 am to 12 pm and will run from June 7 to October 4, 2024. A location for the market on August 2, 2024 is still under review as the lot will be occupied by Arnold Amusement for Harbor Days.

We’re asking the residents who park in the Cedar Street Parking Lot to please park on the northern row only on Thursday evenings until the market wraps up each Friday. The vendors are usually gone by 1:30 pm. Those coming to the market will park in the spaces available throughout downtown. There will be handicap spots and an area for pickup and carry-outs. Look for signage throughout the village for directions and please share the news with friends, family, and visitors!

For more information and to answer any questions, please call us at (231) 264-8202 or email info@elkrapidschamber.org.

Thank you for your understanding and supporting our local farmers. We are looking forward to a great Farmer Market season.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has reached out to local stakeholders to invite them to attend an upcoming open house to discuss the newly updated flood maps for Antrim County. The new maps are crucial because they provide the most current and accurate information on flood risks in Antrim County. It helps residents make informed decisions about property protection, insurance, and overall community safety.

FEMA will host the in-person Open House on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 5:00 – 6:30 at the Forest Home Township Hall in Bellaire.

At the Open House, folks will have a chance to:

1.       Hear from flood insurance professionals and state and local officials about what updated flood maps mean for their community.

2.       Search and review the preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report and Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Antrim County here

3.       See their property and its risk on the preliminary FIRM.

4.       Get answers to questions about the maps, the mapping process and flood insurance.

FEMA has provided a toolkit to help spread the word with anyone in your area. Similar information is being posted to the County’s official Facebook page and the County website. Information on how to RSVP should be included in the toolkit.
