Friends and Relatives of

Women’s Advocates,

As Women’s Advocates celebrates our 50th anniversary, I’m thrilled to share some incredible news with you. Women’s Advocates has secured funding for three significant projects aimed at enhancing our services for victim-survivors of domestic violence. With your help, we can double our number of shelter beds for victim-survivors.

Last year we set out to raise $250,000 through our Lean On Me campaign to support youth in our community. I’m proud to announce that we surpassed this goal, raising over $400,000! Additionally, the Minnesota Office of Economic Opportunity has awarded us $900,000 for capital renovations, enabling us to undertake vital upgrades to our facilities so we can continue our tradition of radical hospitality for another 50 years.

But there’s more exciting news to share! We’re embarking on a new Capital Campaign to expand our services. We have already raised $9.14 million of our $14.25 million goal. On April 30th we will be purchasing two new buildings in Saint Paul to double our number of domestic violence shelter beds and allow victim-survivors and their pets to stay together in their rooms.

We need your help to make this project a success. Donate today to help build a safer community, free from domestic violence.

Respectfully and Zhawenim (unconditional love),

Holly Henning

Executive Director

Women’s Advocates is happy to announce a significant advancement in our mission to support victim-survivors of domestic violence. We’re raising $14.25 million to acquire two new buildings to double our number of shelter beds. Thanks to an extremely generous grant of $8.7 million from Minnesota Office of Economic Opportunity and over $400,000 in private donations, we have raised over 60% of our goal!

This funding brings us one step closer to achieving our ambitious goal of $14.25 million, which will provide funds for planning, design, acquisition, renovation, and 5-years of programming at the new facility.

With your support, we will create 19 new apartments dedicated to victim-survivors and their children, totaling 58 beds. The buildings will offer a mix of ADA compliant 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom units, providing diverse accommodations for survivors of all genders, sexualities, and abilities. Additionally, we are proud to announce that this new facility will allow victim-survivors and their pets to live together in their rooms, providing invaluable comfort and support during times of crisis, while keeping the entire family safe.

Our Vision:

Families & pets live together 24/7 in their own apartment

Double our number of shelter beds

Space for folx of all genders, sexualities, and abilities

We are thrilled to announce that we have raised $400,000 for youth in our community. This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the support of individual donors, CH Robinson, Grotto Foundation, OJP Youth Intervention, and OJP Community Crime Intervention. This significant funding will allow us to provide services to over 50 youth each year and add a Director of Outreach & Youth Engagement and Youth Engagement Specialist to our team to offer youth support and advocacy.

We are excited for the positive impact this will have on the lives of young people in our community, providing them with crucial connections to support through school, mentorship, and other community resources.
