Therapy Tools and Equipment

Nourish provides tools and equipment for families whose children struggle with eating. Why? Because when children struggle to eat, we do not want parents to also struggle to provide needed specialty equipment to support their child’s eating or nutrition.

Special commercial grade blenders such as Vitamix or Blendtec blenders are one type of equipment we provide. Families need these blenders when they provide homemade blended foods for their tube fed children. Many children we support have gastrostomy feeding tubes that provide foods directly into the stomach. In order to blend real foods smooth enough to flow easily through that tube, a commercial grade blender is needed. Families choose to blend homemade meals for their tube fed child for a number of reasons. For some, the real food improves digestion and GI function, reducing constipation or reflux. Others gain weight better with real foods. Still others have better energy. Nourishing a child is important work of parenting and for some parents, being able to provide their own family foods rather than canned formulas is important. Parents tell us they also feel better about the tube while their child is learning to enjoy food, have confidence in their eating and gaining the internal motivation needed to eat enough when they can make their own decisions about their child’s diet.
