Sunday April 21st

This Sunday is our Earth Sunday worship service. Let's come together to celebrate the wonders of creation and God's boundless love. Our gathering is a joyful reminder of our responsibility to care for creation and all living beings. How can we deepen our connection to nature? What actions can we take to protect the environment? How can we express gratitude for God's creation in our daily lives? Join us for worship and community that is committed to caring and making a difference!

Join us Online for Worship @ 9:00AM

or

for In-Person Worship @ 10:00 AM

You can find the online service on Facebook Live or on our YouTube channel.

The service will be saved at both locations through the week.

News

Dear Friends,

WOW! What an incredible experience we shared last Sunday afternoon at the Covenanting Service Celebration. I am overflowing with gratitude and joy by the presence of each and every one of you, both in person and online for what was a really special day. Thank you again to Phil Brennan and the Tech Team for ensuring the whole community could participate and to Norval’s Transition Team for all their help and support.

To all who contributed to the service and reception, your participation and enthusiasm were deeply appreciated. It meant the world to have so many from Norval involved in various aspects of the day. From the music and worship leadership to the heartfelt words, symbols (with credit to Jen and Jenny for the staff team Sour Patch Kids suggestion – perfection!), amazing food, and warm embraces, the day reaffirmed what I've always felt in my heart since God's call to Norval. The Spirit was undeniably present, and that celebration was a testament to that.

I was delighted to see so many visitors and friends from former congregations and the wider church joining us. The beautiful reception that followed was a true reflection of Norval's incredible hospitality. These are just some of the photos captured from the day. If you took some, please share them with me as I would love to have them.

I am filled with immense joy at being called to the Norval community. Your unwavering support and encouragement mean everything to me as we embark on this next chapter together. A heartfelt thank you again to all who played a part in making the day so very special, including Norval's exceptional staff team who went above and beyond despite the day's busy schedule.

Thank you, Norval, for making my heart so full. (Pass the tissues, LOL!) Let us continue to walk together in faith, hope, and love, knowing that our community is deeply blessed and holds such a bright future and ministry together.

Blessings of deep gratitude and love,

The UNITED 4 HOSPICE (U4H) team is comprised of volunteers from the four Georgetown United Churches (Hillcrest, Norval, St. Andrew's and St. John's) who are working as one to assist the Townsend Smith Foundation (TSF) with its goal to build North Halton's first hospice residence on the current Hillcrest site.

The annual fundraising Hike for Hospice has been taking place in Milton and Acton. This year U4H is organizing a hike in Georgetown. All three hikes will be held on Saturday, May 4 starting at 10 AM. There will be two routes (2 and 5 km) in Georgetown South.

There is a team site for walkers from our four churches called UNITED4HOSPICE (U4H). Please Join us as a Walker or Sponsor by registering or by sponsoring one of our team members.

U4H hopes all four congregations will respond generously with their time and talents to assist with running the Georgetown hike. On May 4, we will need a group of 25 volunteers at our Norval United hike location.

Please Join us as a Volunteer in one of the following roles:

- The Hike Route - serving as guide along our Georgetown South route to provide safety and encouragement to walkers

- Inside - checking-in and welcoming pre-registered walkers inside the church

- Outside - supervising and welcoming walkers as they enjoy the church front parking lot display of special cars, fire engine and food event truck

Please contact Helga Kennedy (Norval) if you are available to volunteer.

Located in St. John's United Church in Georgetown, The Sanctuary Concert Hall (TSCH) is a hidden gem known by some, however with acoustics similar to venues like Carnegie Hall and Boston Symphony Hall, not many know how amazing the sound quality really is in this performance space.

The next performance at TSCH is Georgetown's Own Adam James

Friday April 19th @ 7:30PM

Tickets are available at TSCH.ca

Hillcrest, St. Andrew's and St. John’s United are collaborating to hold three combined church services this year. On Sun. Apr. 21, 2024 @ 10:00AM - Earth Day, the people of Hillcrest and St. John's United will visit St. Andrew’s. The service will be led by Kate Young - St. Andrew's, with support from Sue Cowan - St. John’s and Jenn Franczek - Hillcrest. Combined voices will be raised and guided by Sue Whaley, Mark Peterson and the 3 church choirs. They are anticipating another joyful worship experience and the opportunity for members of the 3 congregations to stay afterwards to enjoy refreshments and further grow their friendship.
