Next Sermon for April 28th

Oak Grove Church Family....

Dear Friends –

Recently, after much prayer and reflection, I began to share information about a trip to the Holy Lands that I am scheduled to lead in February of 2025.

This is the trip originally planned for this February, which was automatically rescheduled to next year at the same time because of the ongoing war in Gaza.

One of the main reasons I was comfortable moving forward with planning this trip is how well EO handled rescheduling the trip from this year. Everyone who had financially committed to traveling in February 2024 received their money back.  Overall, my experience with EO throughout the process of cancelling and rescheduling the trip was good, which leads me to believe if we need to cancel again in 2025 it will be handled professional and well.

I will be having an interest meeting on Sunday, April 28th at 4pm in the conference room. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me via email (pastoramanda@oakgroveumc.org).

Please continue to pray with me for our neighbors all throughout the world in prayer who face war and violence.

Peace & Blessings,

Amanda

Our next Golden Oaks gathering will be held on Tuesday, May 21, in The Bridge beginning at 11:30 AM. We’ll enjoy an indoor picnic. Buck Hodges will be cooking burgers and hotdogs on the grill, and we’ll have lots of fixings and condiments along with potato salad, watermelon, and dessert. A $5 donation is requested to help cover the cost of lunch.

With Memorial Day the following Monday, we’ll have a patriotic theme. A special treat will be a visit at 11:45 AM from Oak Grove Kindergarteners, who will sing for us.

Our program following lunch will be presented by Dan Cooke, Crime Prevention Specialist with the Chesapeake Police Department. He will be giving us useful information on personal safety that includes common scams and fraud that are currently being seen in Chesapeake.

Please sign up to attend no later than Sunday, May 19. Sign-up sheets will be available in the adult Sunday School classrooms and on a table outside of Whitehurst Hall. You may also sign up by contacting Carol Avenson (avensoncarol@gmail.com or 757-749-0574).
