UME Marylanders Online has partnered with CASA, a national organization working to improve the quality of life for Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant communities. Tech Educator Gabriel Fumero assisted with the delivery and setup process of more than 40 Google Chromebooks at the CASA Wheaton Welcome Center in May.

National Digital Inclusion Alliance

Through a partnership with the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA), UME Marylanders Online trained over 100 attendees from across the United States during a two-day Digital Navigator training in May. INFO in Libraries and Beyond

The dynamic partnership between the Marylanders Online College of Information Studies (INFO) curriculum team and Enoch Pratt Free Library received numerous accolades at the Maryland Library Association conference in Cambridge in May.

Uhjin Sim, UME Instructional Designer, Regina Paige, Training Manager with Enoch Pratt Library, and Dr. Mega Subramaniam, Professor and Dean for Faculty with the INFO - pictured above - presented on the collaboratively developed train-the-trainer Pratt Adventure and Beyond curriculum. This curriculum was custom-designed for the staff of Pratt Library. Libraries around the state were excited to learn more and potentially bring similar programs to their communities.

Jane Behre, Ph.D. candidate with INFO, presented a poster about the Enoch Pratt collaboration project at the 41st Annual Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL) Symposium on May 23rd to a very engaged audience.

Dr. Subramaniam also presented at the 184th Spring Association of Research Libraries (ARL) meeting in Boston earlier this month, where she shared about the work of UME and INFO that is anchored in coalition building in a session titled Cooperative Approaches to Advance Digital Literacy and Information Access.

Leveraging AI to Increase Extension Efficiency

Tech Educators Maria Barga and Naimani Staley co-presented an interactive workshop at the National Extension Technology Conference (NETC) in State College, PA this past May. Their session was entitled "Beyond Boundaries: AI-Infused Extensions for Progressive Solutions" and introduced free artificial intelligence (AI) tools that can be used to enhance productivity and streamline tasks in Extension work. The presentation was well received, offering participants real tools to increase inter-program collaboration and connections among Extension team members.
