March 2024

Patricia, Jesca and Elidadi, three of our sponsored children, are growing up in a home with siblings and cousins, led by their mother, who is living with HIV, and their elderly, disabled grandmother. They have two small brick homes with dirt floors and sleeping mats provided to the family through sponsorship as their only furnishings. As is the culture, they spend most of their time outdoors cooking, washing the few clothes they have and caring for their young children. Patricia and Jesca, the older children, carry water each day from the community well and help their mother farm their small plot of land. These girls have their limits as well, with Patricia also living with HIV like her mother and Jesca suffering the pain of sickle cell anemia.

Through sponsorship with Hines Ugandan Ministries, this family receives life sustain help and the love of Jesus. Sleeping mats are only the beginning. They receive ongoing medical care for their chronic conditions, that would otherwise be a sure and quick death sentence, at our Holmes Medical Clinic. Food staples bolster the little food they are able to glean themselves and the school aged children receive a nutritional breakfast and lunch each day at our primary school and at Awana Club on Saturdays.

Though we are very proud of our academic accomplishments for these community children, that would otherwise not have an opportunity for a quality education, at our Genesis Primary School it is also a vital tool for us to make sure all these children receive nutritional sustenance every day. Most of the Ugandan schools serve mostly posho and beans every day. We strive to offer eggs, fruit and iron-rich porridge each morning for the students to have the energy to learn and thrive throughout the day. We also offer protein-rich meat and vegetables at lunchtime. Many have come to us with dangerous malnutrion

Calling all Prayer Warriors

Please keep our sponsorship graduates from the end of last year in your prayers as they begin their new adult lives. Some are still seeking employment. Pray for them all to stay strong in their faith and for those who will be leaving the community to find good Bible preaching churches.

* Pray for all of our students who will be finishing their first terms of school in early May to do well on their exams and finish strong.

*   Please pray for new believers who except Jesus during our Easter services and activities to grow in their faith and for us and other strong believers to faithfully love and disciple them.

* Please continue to pray for James as he gr ieves his sweet Elizabeth and raises their little boy, Jaidyn.

 * Pray for Judith, our assistant sponsorship coordinator and wife of Pastor Charles, as she recovers from a broken foot.

* Pray for almost 3-year-old Fred, who came to live in Katherine’s home last year, as he suffers from rickets and is learning to walk. He is learning English and is beginning to feel at home with all his new big brothers and sisters. It is a big adjustment.

effecting their learning abilities and this fundamental nutrition can reverse course for some, allowing them to study and gain hope for a bright future. Thank you to those who sponsor children, give directly to our school feeding program (Donate a Plate) and to our ministry funds to make this all possible.

Saturday Awana Club is a big event with over 1,000 sponsored and other community children coming to play games and hear the word of God. A nutritious lunch is served each week and Patricia, Jesca and Elidadi often have the opportunity to take leftover food home to their family.

 * Please lift up in prayer our Genesis teachers to grow in their faith and knowledge of the Bible. They have a big challenge to weave Biblical principles into their teaching. Some are fairly new Christians and are still learning these things themselves.

 * Please continue to pray for our sponsored children who have not yet surendured their lives to Jesus to have Him open their eyes to a meaningful relationship with Him.

We shared with you over the last year how increasing economic instability had made it very difficult to keep up with this need. There have been times when we were limited to meet these full nutritional goals and we are grateful for several generous donors who stepped forward this year to provide for much of this. If you would like to contribute for our school feeding needs, you can select the “Donate a Plate” purpose on our online donation form or note it with your mailed check.  One-time or recurring gifts are appreciated.

Thank you to all of you for your faithful partnership in ministry. We couldn’t do it without you!

Current Financial Needs

The second of 3 school terms will begin in May. Please consider contributing to our Higher Education Fund to help the youth that need additional school and boarding supplies.

We are still working to get new school shoes for all of the kids. Contributions to this fund would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your generosity and prayers.
