Miami-Dade Police Department's New Autism Safety Program

This vital initiative by the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) was created to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents. With a firm commitment to protection and service, MDPD offers free decals to community members, designed to alert emergency responders to the presence of individuals with autism in their homes or vehicles. These decals, placed near the front door and rear window, enable officers to utilize specialized autism training, assisting individuals who may not respond to verbal commands. Residents can also register for the program without affixing decals, allowing MDPD to flag their address in the dispatch system, ensuring officers are aware of the presence of autism in the household.
