At UCSF Smoking Cessation Leadership Center (SCLC) is partnering with Dr. Valerie Yerger, Professor in the Department of Social Behavioral Sciences at UCSF and Co-founder of the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council on the Biden Cancer Moonshot Initiative. Together with Dr. Yerger and colleagues, they will be launching the Spiral Up Lite App (available for download via Apple and Android) to make emotional brain training accessible for stress management and smoking cessation in the new year.

US Supreme Court rejects challenge to California flavored tobacco ban


Jan 8 (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company's challenge to a voter-approved measure in California that banned flavored tobacco products in the most-populous U.S. state.


The justices rejected an appeal by R.J. Reynolds, a unit of British American Tobacco (BATS.L), and other plaintiffs of a lower court's ruling holding that California's law did not conflict with a federal statute regulating tobacco products.

The Future of the Tobacco Section is Up for Grabs


Each time c-store management thinks they have a timetable for the ban on menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) or the White House resets the play clock. So far, the FDA has moved its “effective date” for its bans from May 2023 to October 2023, to “end of the year,” and now to March 2024.
