Six Solana Beach Home Gardens Featured in the California Native Plant Society Garden Tour
Congratulations and kudos to the six Solana Beach homes whose gardens were featured in the California Native Plant Society's San Diego Annual Garden Tour on April 7th, showcasing the theme "Planting Animals." These gardens not only offer aesthetic beauty but also contribute to the City's Climate Action Plan and Mayor’s Monarch Pledge objectives by expanding native pollinator habitats, reducing water consumption, and attracting wildlife. As one host noted, these native landscapes bring forth "a parade of birds, bumblebees, and butterflies." To be inspired for your own homes, feel free to stroll, bike, or drive by these inspiring gardens in Solana Beach.

Solana Highlands Project Update - Truck Hauling
|
Have you noticed the line of large hauling trucks along Via De La Valle and wondered why they're there? These double bottom belly dump trucks are transporting large quantities of sand, dirt, and rocks to an off-site location as part of the ongoing grading process for the Solana Highlands Project. Rest assured, these trucks are nearing the completion of their task for this phase and will be gone by the end of this month, marking the completion of the project's first phase of construction. The City will continue to ensure proper traffic control, dust control and safety monitoring throughout this process. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the construction of this large project.
Home Organics Recycling Reminder
Recycling of organic waste is the next step to achieving California’s Zero Waste goals and together we can be a part of the solution. In addition to food scraps and landscape waste, food-soiled cardboard and paper products are also acceptable to place into your green organics cart. Additionally, paper bags, paper napkins, paper towels, paper plates, paper cups, paper and cardboard takeout containers and takeout boxes (with no plastic or wax coating, and with all metal removed), coffee filters, soiled pizza boxes, tissues and newspaper are all paper products that can be used to wrap or place your food scraps in before depositing them in your green organics cart.
