Wat ering Alert
August is here, but our friends at Casey Trees remind us that adequate rainfall is not.

Newly planted trees — those that have been in the ground less than three years — require 25 gallons of water, approximately 1.5 inches of rainfall, per week to survive, since your young trees won’t get 1.5 inches of rain it’s time to water them!
DCPSC Will Examine Root Cause Power Outage in Northwest DC
The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia issued a press release on July 29 to announce that it is investigating the Pepco power outage that affected more than 39,000 District utility consumers after a Pepco substation in Northwest DC experienced an equipment issue.

As the District’s utility regulator, the Commission’s investigation will focus on the cause of the outage and evaluate measures that Pepco can undertake to prevent a recurrence of such power outages. In addition, pursuant to the Electric Quality of Service Standards adopted by the Commission, Pepco must submit a detailed report of this outage within five days of the incident.

Spotlight on 2018 House Tour Sponsors
I think we can all agree that Dupont Circle's 17th Street is best enjoyed by patio and our own Java House offers up a spacious spot to sip a coffee or tea while you peruse their impressive menu of offerings.

Grab a coffee to go or sit down, say hi to a neighbor, and stay awhile. Thank you Java House for caffeine-ating our days and being a committed supporter to the 2018 DCCA House Tour.
