These courses provide the code and standards requirements for the installation, inspection, maintenance, or general code knowledge of medical gas and vacuum delivery systems.


The instructor is Richard L. Miller, ASSE 6050 Medical Gas Systems Instructor with Medical Gas Training, Inc. Richard has more than 35 years of practical experience in the Medical Gas Delivery Systems field.

The Medical Gas Delivery System Generalists (ASSE 6005) is designed for those who need general code knowledge. No pre-requisite experience is required. The cost is $925.00 (includes required codebook, NFPA 99-2021).


Medical Gas Delivery System Installers (ASSE 6010) is a concentrated course that provides exposure to all facets of the NFPA 99 Medical Gas & Vacuum code. Candidates must have a minimum of four years of documented piping experience and previous brazing experience. The tuition cost is $1350.00 (includes the required codebook, NFPA 99-2021). 


The rental of brazing equipment and purchase of brazing qualification and practice supplies are available upon request. When you register, a list of required brazing supplies and equipment will be provided. The brazing qualification range is 1/4" to 3" Diameter Pipe. The brazing supplies and rental braze torch with tips cost $250 per individual. The total price for a 6010 Installer with brazing supplies/equipment is $1600 per student.


Medical Gas Delivery System Inspectors (ASSE 6020) certification is ideal for government inspectors, construction managers, hospital engineers, project managers, and estimators. Candidates must have two years of documented practical experience as a government plumbing/mechanical inspector or administrator of said inspectors, or regularly involved in the design, inspection, or verification of medical gas systems, or be a 6010 Installer. The tuition cost is $1020.00 (includes required codebook, NFPA 99-2021).


The Medical Gas and Delivery System Maintenance (ASSE 6040) course is an instruction for hospital maintenance personnel who are qualified upon completion to sit for the credential exam. Candidates shall be employed or contracted by a healthcare facility, be actively engaged in working with medical gas systems, and have one (1) year of experience in the maintenance of medical gas and vacuum systems.

This course covers the basic maintenance requirements for medical gas, vacuum pipelines, and medical gas and vacuum equipment. Its overall emphasis on safety will help you maintain critical life support systems and maximize efficiency while minimizing exposure. In addition to basic maintenance and repair requirements, candidates will learn of differing and emerging technologies, how to define manufacturer’s test and maintenance requirements, and how to identify all code requirements. Candidates will also receive information on what credentials to look for from medical gas contractors and verifiers working in the facility. The tuition cost is $1020.00 (includes required codebook, NFPA 99-2021)
