Worship Service Information | |
We welcome Rev. Jessie MacMillan to our pulpit this week. She will offer her sermon "Waiting for God." The scriptures are 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1 and Psalm 130.
Service will be held OUTSIDE this Sunday on the West Lawn, weather permitting! Chairs will be set up on the grass, including chairs with arms on the sidewalk. Members with mobility issues are asked to park in the spaces behind the church. There will be two large Recycle Boxes for your empty plastic water bottles and cups.
Our Liturgist is Nancy Smekal. Nancy is a long time Covenant member, along with her husband Jim. One of her favorite times of the year is the summer when Covenant services are held outdoors as it is fun watching the birds and the passers-by while worshipping!
Ushering this week are Nancy Smekal and Janet Takeyama. Our greeter will be Barb Clint. The custodian on duty is Damytrez Vasques. A/V technicians are Ken Wendt, Michael Peters, Gina Yang, and Christopher Tipton (CWRU Music Education major).

What Does the Juneteenth Flag Symbolize?
On June 19, 1865—two and a half years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation—the last group of enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom. The United States now celebrates the anniversary of the liberation of Black Americans every year on Juneteenth. When June 19 arrives, you may see a red-and-blue banner with a white star in the middle flying from flagpoles. Since it was created more than two decades ago, the Juneteenth flag has become an important symbol of the holiday. Attend the special reception to find out more!

Remember me? I haven't been around for a while! It has become evident that I am still dealing with the consequences of last October's bout with Covid. The final word remains to be determined but, for the time being, I am rationing my activities and energy very carefully. I have excellent doctors, and hope to be back among you sometime this summer. By the way, my husband, is recovering much more quickly from heart surgery than I am from Covid! Your prayers are most appreciated.
Many blessings, Pastor Robin Pilgrim Absent from Residence

We'll be using the reading guide Let Justice Roll Down: God's Call to Care for Neighbors and All Creation. This guide explores how caring for creation and our neighbors is a core part of our faith.
Here's what we'll be discussing:
- Why caring for creation matters: We'll explore how a healthy environment supports human well-being and reflects God's love for the world.
- Advocating for justice: The course will look at how unjust systems impact society's most vulnerable and how we can be advocates for them.
- Understanding our impact: We'll read about ecological systems, the effects of climate change, and how our actions affect the environment. We'll also explore how responding to these challenges can be a spiritual act.
Join us for learning, fellowship, and light snacks after work at church!
Please RSVP to kchilcote@covenantweb.org to let us know you're coming.
