Three Xaverian Missionaries Martyrs declared as "Blesseds" by Pope Francis

On December 14, the Holy Father received in audience Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. He authorized the promulgation of eight decrees concerning the miracles, martyrdom, and heroic virtues of two Venerable Servants of God and nine Servants of God.

Among the newly declared "Blesseds" are three Xaverian Missionaries: Luigi Carrara, Giovanni Didoné, and Vittorio Faccin, along with Congolese diocesan priest Albert Joubert. Tragically, these missionaries fell victim to a turbulent period in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) history, in the early 1960s.

Interfaith Faith Candlelight Prayer for Peace in Israel, Palestine, and Here

On December 3, 2023, the Metrowest Interfaith Community and others gathered for a candlelight prayer and a shared meal together at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Holliston. Our Jewish and Muslim neighbors, Christian, Baha'i, Sikh and others joined in as we brought together our sorrow and grief for so many uselessly killed, men, women, and children, of those still held captive, and so many others affected by this awful tragedy.

From the Qur'an, teachings of the Baha'i, Christian and Hebrew scriptures, from poetry, music, and reflection, we raised up all our hopes for a peace that just not only ceases the violence, but a provides a future full of hope for everyone.

Ribat El Salam in Fnideq on the Feast of St. Francis Xavier

Celebrating St. Francis Xavier with Sufi brothers and sisters is already a tradition in our community in Morocco. In this celebration we are united by the desire to “make the world one family” by becoming a “Ribat El Salam” (a bond of peace, founded in Algeria by Christian de Chergé and Msgr. Claude Rault, and lived with the Sufi brotherhood Alawiya). We Xaverians have been walking alongside the Tariqa Alawiya since our beginnings in this land. Our meditation and silent prayer, based on an aya of the Qur’an and a verse of the Gospel, aimed to deepen how in God’s plan “the other," coming from the East and the West, is called to live the joy of God and sit at his table. On this occasion, the Daughters of Charity of Ksar El Kebir and Salva, a Christian friend from Ceuta, have joined...

World Interfaith Harmony Week Feb. 1-7, 2024

The World Interfaith Harmony Week is based on the pioneering work of The Common Word initiative. This initiative, which started in 2007, called for Muslim and Christian leaders to engage in a dialogue based on two common fundamental religious Commandments; Love of God, and Love of the Neighbour, without nevertheless compromising any of their own religious tenets. The Two commandments are at the heart of the three Monotheistic religions and therefore provide the most solid theological ground possible.

The World Interfaith Harmony Week extends the Two Commandments by adding ‘Love of the Good, and Love of the Neighbour’. This formula includes all people of goodwill. It includes those of other faiths, and those with no faith.
