Sunapee Happenings

“First dusting of snow. November 2023”

Mother Nature has been teasing us with hints of snow… a dusting here & there, then 4 to 5 inches of snow covering previous night's rain to ice deluge… and then a mild sunny Monday morning melted away Sunday night's snowfall.

Skiers are waxing their skis in anticipation of that first run down the slopes of Mt. Sunapee. Have no doubt, “winter, is a’coming’ !

ps: ever wonder just how the mountain has such perfect snow conditions even when your front yard has green grass?  Check out the video of the “Snow Makers” on Mt. Sunapee, the postscript of this week’s newsletter.

The Lake Sunapee, NH region has always had more than its share of musicians. Maybe it's the mountain air or maybe it's the scenery, but something keeps them coming back. Just ask Click Horning, New London's singer songwriter who left when he was seventeen for the Big Apple. Twelve years, a record contract and an album later it was time to come back. Early influences were Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter Paul & Mary, as well as rock and roll and R&B that he listened to growing up. Learn More

The timeless classic “Christmas Carol” at Northern Stage.

and, especially for families and kids …

A Seussified Christmas Carol is a comedy by Peter Bloedel. It's a whimsical reinvention of Dickens' most beloved Christmas story in wacky rhymed couplets. With zoot fruited juices and binka bird geese, from Bed-Headed Fred to Timmy Loo Hoo, this tale of glorious holiday cheer is similar to something Dr. Seuss might have come up with, if he ever had his way with the story.

Co-Directed by Larissa Cahill and Ethan Laushance, the play features more than 20 youth actors performing in this unconventional take on a holiday classic.

Tickets are $8 - $14

Fees added for in-person/phone purchases
